Default CALIFORNIA Quad Riders report here.....

We were there Sunday/Monday. Quadkaryn is right, what a zoo The rangers need to start doing some Proactive enforcement Especially after a little girl was hit by a quad while in the water Only way to stop the illegal activity is through citations and fines.

Other then that, weather was great and very little wind

"Especially after a little girl was hit by a quad while in the water"

Dan,

That happened to be our little girl...the kid wasriding where he didn't belong... in the water...

I agree..more citations/tickets need to be given..maybe that will calm down the masses...everyone seems to be just a little to out of control...especially at waters edge...

Sorry to here it was your daughter Hope she recovers fast and still wants to ride/go to Pismo and play in the surf

Only way to get control again is direct, strict enforcement. Been there and done that
I agree, it needs to be done. Not everyone will be happy. But hey, it only effects the ones breaking the law or their parents.

I'm with RD. Time for the Rangers to get out the ticket book. They won't be popular, but people will get their act together. They do need to get things in order. I wish they'd make people park a min. distance off the beach. Not tell them that point is safe (in case tide comes in higher) but they can't park or camp closer so that there is traffic room.

Maybe they should look at doing more patrols in the rail and maybe on quads. That way people wouldn't know where they are coming from. They kinda stick out in the Super Duties and the Hummer. And make a HUGE deal out of it. So people are talking about it. Think if a Ranger just sat between a couple toy haulers. Plain site, but I bet if you asked most people, they wouldn't see him.

I am with you b&rw You don't get into that business to win a popularity contest. If the "high Profile" patrol was working they wouldn't have the problems that are witnessed everytime we go. Which this summer has been 3 times in the last 5-6 weeks Time to go stealth and pull that cite book out to bring order back to the beach

Problem with moving everyone back, is the size of the crowd. It actually makes it harder then what is practical. I am speaking from experience at our reservoirs We had no camping within 50' of the high water mark We could and did spend literally the whole night, every weekend moving people. And they still didn't learn. I'd much rather have them just enforce the laws in place and be "Zero Tolerance" until the problem subsides some.

Do you guys think a 5 hour drive to Pismo is worth it? Is it that good?

I definately think a five hour trip is worth it It takes us on avg. 5 hours to get there. That is pulling a trailer and gas/bathroom breaks. Pismo isn't as big as Glamis or Dumont. But, it has it's own beauty Camping on the Pacific Ocean, riding in the sand, watching other riders, watching the tide come and go and all the excitement it brings, from the camps that are to close to the water Sunsets/sunrises. And walks on the beach with the family I'd try it atleast once. Maybe you'll be hooked like a lot of us

It's not my favorite place to ride, but I go. Mostly because I have a bunch of sand diva/hoochie/etc friends. And that's not being disrespectful...that's what THEY call themselves. LOL.

It is a nice place to go. There's no ammenities though. No showers and only pit toilets which can get pretty nasty in the summer crowds. There's always something to have to deal with that's a PITA. Winter the creek can do it's damage. Late spring and fall the winds hit. The summer, the sand dries out and makes driving out there a PITA.

But I'd say definately do it once. I'm going for the 3rd time this year on Friday.
