CALIFORNIA Quad Riders report here.....

Hey Ridin Folks and Doroguy, glad you liked Stoddard. We're going out this Saturday for one night. Maiden voyage for my new toy hauler! Here's where we like to go, easy access, lots of riding room for kids and only about a 30-40 minute easy off road ride to the Slash X.
Get off the I-15 at Dale Evans Parkway. Turn right and go past all those folks camped next to the freeway, in other words resist the temptation to make an immediate left. Stay on Dale Evans and go down about 1 mile, and turn left on Stoddard Wells Road (I think it's the second left after Juvi Hall). Go down that dirt road for about 1, 2, 3 miles (go past the turn off for the off road track ) and you'll see all the toy haulers. There's plenty of staging areas as that road is well maintained and goes for miles. From there you can go most anywhere on really well maintained trails. We usually do a lunch at the Slash X, it takes about 40 minutes to get there from that particular staging area, and is fun. (Don't ask me how to get there off road as I just follow everyone else.) This weekend we're taking the kids there so they can participate. (A 9 and 4 year old, the road is that easy.) There's also a fun ride to the ostrich farm from there as well, both an easy way and a more challenging way. That ride also takes about 30 minutes.
Ridin Folks, go to www.barstowpokerrun.com and you'll get directions to the Slash X from the freeway. Highway 247 is about two to three exits past Outlet Center Drive, it's in the center of Barstow. I think that the exit is called Barstow Road, exit, turn right and go down about 12 miles to the Slash X. That web site has the phone number for the Cafe as well. Speaking of the Poker Run, we're plannign to go this year, I hear it's a blast.
As for this weekend, look for an American Freedom 17' pulled by a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 19' Atitude pulled by a Chevy Tahoe. That'll be us. We're planning to head out on Saturday morning and stay until Sunday afternoon. Stop by and say HI!

Anza-Berrego Desert Park is 600,000 acres of open desert, trails, washes, gold and silver mines and prehistoric bone fields.
There are some dunes and sand bowls but it is a combination of every type of riding you could imagine.
You go south from the 111 on the SR86 to Marina Dr. Turn right (West) about 2 miles and camp where you want.
It is a dry camp so bring water. If you go back to the SR86 and turn right (South) and go about 1.5 miles you will come across a Gas station and mini mart for suplies.....
Just something different......

whats up all, there is a new riding area off of Date Palm ave and the 10 freeway out towards palm Springs, I live in Banning, the area is north of the freeway, you can't miss it. The Riverside county sherrifs are out there only to enforce stupidness and registration.its got a cool hill to drag up. this place is hoppin on the weekends.the whole area is about 500-800 acres, hey its close if you live near by.

I drive by it everyday on my way to work and wondered if it was legal or not. How frequent are the Sheriff's visits? Once you get up the hill are there trails on the back side? It's close enough for a quickie on a weekend!
