FIRE NEAR GORMAN THREATENS 1,000 HOMES

SEPTEMBER 03 -- GORMAN, CA: A fire that started today near Gorman had burned about 2,500 acres by 6 p.m. and was just 10 percent contained. About 1,000 homes are threatened, according to Dyer's L.A. County team, and evacuations were under way tonight with Frazier Park threatened.

One home and about three outbuildings were confirmed destroyed; NBC4-TV reported that two vehicles and a travel trailer were destroyed. L.A. County Fire Department Inspector Ron Haralson said Los Angeles and Kern county fire crews were on the fire, along with Los Angeles city firefighters and crews from the U.S. Forest Service and six fixed-wing USFS aircraft.

About 400 personnel are assigned. Firefighters reported that the fire was spotting and making runs at structures in light fuels, with pockets of heavy fuel.

We did a quick trip to Carnegie... was fun.. actually lef the toyhauler home and slept in the back of Rob's truck.. haha.. it was a no luxury trip.. haha.. but it was lots of fun! Next trip on the books is Hollister... will the new toyhauler be home by then????

OK...Im taKing the family out the end of next month, and need a place to ride and camp. My wife needs the campgrounds to have at least a water hook up and a bathroom, I just needs a place to set up the tent. As far as riding I have a Twister for me and the 3yr old, and my wife is on a Trailboss. We would like trees, nature, and fun trails. We are in So Cal (near Elsinore) and dont mind driving a few hours to get where we need to go. Glamis is out, as is El Mirage...any other suggestions would be great.

 

Sorry, no rail for me(yet!) and no target practice for her. Once she found out that a new toy hauler would be needed she said "next year". Damn these "think everything thru first" types of women!! I want it and I want it now!!
