CALIFORNIA Quad Riders report here.....

Ok BlackandRedWarrior you seem to be the Miami dude.
Lets get a time and a meeting place going, sounds like there
are a few people wanting to go.
I will definetly make it if I can get back in town by this weekend.....

Woohoo, looks like this might actually go off.
I'm going to be staying in Bass Lake the entire weekend so I think the best place if people want to meat up and get led into Miami is Either at McDonald's in Oakhurst or the Raley's (NW corner of 41 and 49) or Von's (SW corner of 41 & 49) shopping centers. There's a bit of parking behind the McD's. We usually shoot try to get to the staging area about 10-10:30. Depending on variables, it's about a 45 minute drive from Fresno up 41 to Oakhurst. Another 15 beyond that up to Miami and into the staging area.
If other people are coming up they might be meeting up at 41 and Ave. 17 at the Chevron. I need to make a few more calls to some people.
And I'm not Mr. Miami. That's powerstroke. That's his backyard.
I'll be in a white '91 GMC Sonoma long bed. Look for a white banner in the window that says "Central California Dirtbikes / Quads Club"
So we are looking at the following people:
blackandredwarrior ('03 B&R Warrior)
powerstroke01 ('03 Bomb Outlander, if it's ready)
brodie 80 ('03 KFX 400) - maybe
bladmike ('04 Rappy) - maybe
Check your PMs (except power, I'll yack with ya on Yahoo!) for more info.

Re: Hollister. Best time to go is when it rains. I'm heading up there end of the month to ride with a group. Right now it's kinda warm up there, until you get all nice and sweaty and take off like a wildman. Nature's A/C kicks on then. It's also pretty dusty. But hey, if we didn't want to get dirty we'd ride lounge chairs. The best months though are the winter months. Oct. through March, maybe April. Though it all depends on how much rain there has been. If you get a summer rain, then a summer ride would be cool.
To get there take 99 north to 152 across through Los Banos. After you go through Casa de Fruita, I believe the second rd (left side) is 156 to Hollister. Just get in the left lane it will become the turn lane. It can back up pretty good here if there's a lot of traffic. You have to make a left turn across the East bound lane of 152. Take 156 West past Hollister. DO NOT go through Hollister unless you need to get gas or supplies. The second left after the sewege plant is Union Road. It only goes to the left. There's a light there so it's an easy turn. There's a brown sign there for Hollister Hills SVRA and for some lake. Follow Union Rd. until you get to Cienega. Make a right on Cienega (another HHSVRA sign is there pointing the way.) Follow Cienega until you hit a "T". Turn right on Cienega (ok, technically you stay on Cienega, but you make a right turn.) Hospital Rd. goes to the left. Follow Cienega up until you get to the entrance. Start looking to the right after you pass the big power lines. There will be some maintenance bldgs first with Do Not Enter signs or some such. There is a big sign on the opposite side of the entrance to the SVRA so take it slow. Many people overshoot it. And if you do, it's a PITA to turn a trailer around up there. When you cross the narrow bridge then keep an eye out for the entrance.
If you arrive during the day you'll see people riding on Lower Field Rd. It runs along Cienega for a while.
Happy trails and enjoy. Let me know when you go. I'm always up for Hollister. I can take the heat and dust.

Well looks like I will make it back in town by Saturday.
Only problem I need to find someone to watch my Son for the
day as I don't think his Raptor 80 will keep up with the BIG boys.
I'll post back..........

I'm waiting to hear from one friend who might be bring his daughter. I think she's 8 as well. Rides an LT80. They do ok on the fire roads. And maybe a couple of the easy trails. The rest I just don't think they can pull the hills and make the ruts.

My buddy is waiting to see what he can wrangle out. Going to check with his better half to get her to come up Sat. night after she gets off work. Both have Bdays this week (hers today, his tomorrow) so it will be a bit of a bday party afterwards. Also trying to figure out a sitter if all "the boys" want to take off for a more advanced ride. If we end up on the easy stuff all day that's no biggie either.
I'll try to remember to make copies of the map I have of Miami and the surrounding area as well.
