Default Wisconsin flooding... HELP

The trails out of Danbury last weekend were like a dust bowl.. it was very surprising considering all the rain we have received in MN lately.

Default Wisconsin flooding... HELP

We have had alot of rain in the Jackson/Clark county area in the last month, which is why the trails were closed. This week it has dried out, but we got another 1-2 inches on wed do it screwed it up again. Since then its been nice and must have dried up enough to let people run. I have a feeling there will be plenty of water spots though.

Default Wisconsin flooding... HELP

Have any of you been on the BRF trails since they reopened? I'm planning on being there this Friday with a group of four.. I was there just before the closing and the flooding was unreal. I'm hoping that some of this has improved.

How about the Milston run? I went from BRF to Clark County last time, which was very very muddy and a ton of water. I'm hoping that the Milston run at least is a little more dried out.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated,

Kaz

I rode from Merrillan to Hatfield and went about a mile down the jackson trails last night. The trails were still pretty wet. There were places where there was standing water still and some pretty good ruts. Overall they are alot drier then they were before they closed so it is better, but there is still some damage. The new section they added north of Hatfield is closed off so you have to run down Gorman road again like usual otherwise the trail is fine, just a little wet.

If it stays like it was here today (sunny and 75) the trails should be in good shape the weekend.

Default Wisconsin flooding... HELP

I ran BRF right up to Lake Artibus for fuel. The trails heading north are still a bit wet in some areas but still passable with a sport quad... no problems. The big lake that was covering the main trail heading North has been fixed with a new drain tube across the trail. Heading West from BRF is find and even a bit dusty in sections.

I did have the DNR out talking to me after coming to a road. They had the tape measure out, spark arrestor poker and a few comments about where my WS sticker was placed. He also thought I should have had my MN stickers up by the WS stickers. The other DNR officer with him was pretty cool guy and you could tell the one was being a real horses a$$.

He first tried to tell my my quad was too wide for the WS trails.. whats next.. the seat height is too low or the handlebars are too high??

After all the non-sense was done, I drove off without anything but a poor opinion of some the DNR officers and wonder how they even got their job.

Reminded me of the day Butcher had a little incident!!.. you ever get that resolved?

Thanks for the BRF info guys. It's good to know that the trails are drying out a bit. The lake going north was unreal last time I was there with the Outlander. I got through without much trouble but the sport quads were having serious trouble. I'm heading there on Friday with both Outlanders (wife and sister-in-law driving those) while I'll be on my new DS. My brother-in-law is going to be on his YFZ which was a riot to watch last time going thorugh the water. He pretty much did a face plant in the big lake trying to rip through there. We're heading towards Milston this time around which I hope will be dried out.

Anyway, the DNR issue... They can be a real pain in the back end. There are enough problem cases out there on the trails that need attention where they could leave the rest of us alone with "where we put the stickers EXACTLY". I had the same stupid discussion last time I was there, with the guy trying to tell me that I should have it in maybe another place a bit higher on the front. I told him that the sticker information when you recieve your tags indicate in the front where they are visable. They don't state the exact place up front nor the hight or any other of this crap this guy was looking to chat about. While I'm out there with friends in family I don't care to waste my time listening to a guy trying to impress me with the fact that he is a DNR... with little to nothing to do that day but talk about my sticker hight. It's laughable.

It's guys like that who give DNRs the bad reputation.
Again, thanks for the BRF update,
Kaz

Here's a BRF update from yesterday, 6/28/04:

Parked at the Airport Rd. lot near BRF. One Wolvy, one Z400. Rode clear to the end of the line near City Point. Then rode to Pray for a nice lunch at Bev's (recommended). Then up to Hatfield to fill the tanks - thanks to those involved in opening the connector trail. If you ride it, please stay on the asphalt only so that the connector trail stays open. From Hatfield back to the parking lot. 6 hours including lunch at about 90 miles. Trails are dry and dusty in places and muddy in others. About the only place where you really couldn't 'bypass' the mud was on the trail up to Lake Arbutus from the Ott Memorial Trail. My buddy on the 2WD Z400 made it through OK along as he had momentum. Maybe passed 15-18 machines all day. Did not do the Millston loop due to 3hr drive back to Milwaukee time constraint.

I don't think we got it as bad as you guys....even though it was raining here like crazy off and on for about two weeks...
rivers are still pretty high around here but the mud seems to be pretty much gone except in the woods in a few places
