I am from CT as well. I used to ride all the time in Plainville sand pits, but the owner brought the local police a quad and now they ticket you as soon as you get there.
While I am not into trails that much, due to the MX set up of my quads, I am looking for a practice track type riding area. I will help with the upkeep, if allowed to practice there. Do you guys know of anyone?
Right now the closest place that is quad friendly is Eagle Bridge NY. It is about 2.5 hours from me (just north of Albany). I am heading up there at the end of Oct with some racing buddies if you guys are interested.
As far as trails, I have only been to Mt. Oct in the Berkshires. There are a bunch of trails in MA. But you need to be registered. I think it is $20 or $30 for the year (out of state). If you want more information join the NEATVA, they need help cleaning the trails to keep them open. Plus they are always having some fun rides.

Hey x250rDude,
Have you ever been to the "Cromwell Dunes"? This place is very nice, with some sand pits, large openings and large hills. There is even trails behind it as well. Some guys and gals even bring their 4X4's in there!! I might go up there this weekend to break in my quad. I only have 1 hour on it because of lack of time. Give me a call and let me know what you think. If I'm not home, just leave a message.
Thanks,
IronBear

Duke0013,
As far as I know, ALL trails used by VAST are on private land. VAST gets permission from these landowners to cross their land. Everyone is required to stay on these trails. Memberships pay for upkeep of the trails.
Put simply, VAST is more organized and has been around for longer than any ATV group. One VAST membership covers the entire state. An ATV group membership covers a trail here, and a trail there.
My ATV registration helps to "police" the VAST trails. Not fair, but they are very organized...
I know the whereabouts of some trails in West Rutland. The rest are up here in the N.W. corner.
