I am planning a couple of longer atv rides this summer with a friend and my 2 boys. I plan to ride from the Mercer wi area to Solon springs Wi, but I'm not sure if it is possible to do in 1 day. We may try it with out the boys first, maybe start from each end to see how it goes. Does anyone have any info on the area around and west of clam lakeWi? what are the best trails to take and are there any public campsites along the way??? We plan to pack our tent and gear and rough it this summer! Thanks, Dan.

Come on everyone, the snow is almost all melted!!!!! It's time to put away the sleds, come out of hibernation, and think about

Are you planning on going down all the way to park falls and then over to Clam Lake?
That would be a long haul!! If you ride the dead horse trail between loretta and clam lake, it's a slow and muddy trail.
Don't get me wrong, It's a blast to ride, but you don't make much time.
I've thought about trying to get from Clam lake to Solan Spring, but have not tried it yet.

I haven't mapped it all out yet, but I think we will drop into clam lake from the north... I think we can hook over from just south of hwy 2... north west of Upson I think. we will probably trailer to Ironbelt, southwest of Hurley on 77, then start from there. I want to ride the new trail that goes north from trail 6 on memorial day weekend too if there is time. We will probably only go as far as Clam lake and back that weekend I think. With my job I get 3-day weekends almost every week, so I will have time to try it this year I hope!
