Los Angeles riding

Call the National Forest Visitors Center in Big Bear (sorry I don't have the number, but you can get it form directory assistance), and they will send you maps of the open riding areas. There are some trails in the Pinacles area that are really TOUGH! Check out www.ca.blm.gov. There are 4 BLM open areas along I-15 (near Victorville). Near Beaumont, where the I-10 and I-60 meet, there is a very popular area. There is Whitewater (Windy Point), on the 111 going to Palm Springs. Hungry Valley SVRA is north of LA. Try www.calohv.ca.gov.
Where do you ride now? I am lucky to live out where I can ride right from my house!

I think Big Bear offers the most challenging single-track in SoCal, not to mention the most scenic riding. There's a variety of difficulty and many forestry trails are marked with degree of difficulty. Check out www.sbnfa.org for info. Depending on weather, a lot of these trails will close for the winter soon.
