Weekend Ride-CHECKLIST-Need Help-Hatfield McCoy
#1
Need some help. We're trying to plan a ride to the Hatfield McCoy trails and some of the guys are new to taking ATV trips. I was wondering if I could get some help compiling a check list of things that you would recommend taking with us.
I'm sure all of you have gone to ride and inevitably, you've gone off without something you need. And, since most of you are veterans to long weekend/week rides, you'll know what "extras" to bring along on your atv.
Let me know what to make sure and bring and what could be useful.
Thanks for the help.

Aside from the obvious,.....Have your quad ready to go mechanicly.... bring a tire repair kit. It prevents having a bad day.
But if you should forget something, the town of Man and Gilbert will have everything you could need.
If you want some great ideas on trails check out Quadcrew.com There are many Hatfield/McCoy experienced riders that hang there. As well as a lot of the business owners hang out there as well

I usually take water, power bars, tire repair kit, tools, a tow strap, GPS, map, camera, first aid kit, and repelling rope. The reason I take the repelling rope is b/c some of the trails drop straight down for more than 100 ft. We were there one weekend and we saw a guy go off the side of the mountain and you needed to repel down to get to him. He was not hurt but he was pinned under the quad and the repelling gear made it a breeze to get to him. Don't let me scare you by saying all of this b/c it is really only like that on a few of the blue's and most of the black trails. The green trails are fine. The guy that went off the cliff was also being stupid when he lost it.
Hatfield is great b/c it has something for every type of rider from first timers to pro's. I would also suggest that you put everything in ziplock bags. There is a fair amount of mud and water and if it rains, your stuff WILL get wet.
Like "Kushman" said, if you forget something you can always ride into Man or Gilbert and get what you need.
I would suggest looking at the Browning Fork Trailhouse as a place to stay. You can ride from the house to the trails and Marty and Lisa are the best. They make you feel like family.
Enjoy your trip!

Well, I do have to say that the toilet paper was the best thing yet. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate all of the feedback, but TP could be one of the most important items.
I figured the usual stuff, but I didn't know if you guys may take something that really comes in handy. Thanks for the feedback.
