ATTENTION: KC RIDERS/ Tiffany springs park
I have an update about the proposed park in the northland, I was just informed by my neighbors which live next to the park on Tiffany Springs that the Aviation dept and the city council have been talking and the airport is willing to open the land around the quarry. The city council has appropriated $50,000.00 for the initial planning of this project. The National Off-Highway Vehicle Association has offered their assistance and support to building this park. On Nov. the 4th the Missouri Trail Rider Summit meets in KC and they will be at the proposed park area to give their input and conduct training. the city is wanting the local off-road groups to take the lead in controlling the park since they have a vested interest in making it work. They call it Off-Highway to encompass moto-cross, motorized mountain bikes, ATV's, and Snowmobiles - or any motorized vehicle not legal for public roads. they are thinking of make an area for new rider training.
Now all of this info came directly from an E-Mail from a well connected source. I will tell you that the people that live by the Quarry are not at all happy with this. The city wants this off-road park to be a good example of off-road use. So if your involved with an off-road club or group please see what kind of support or info we can get to help with opening this park. I am all for it . I do know that the other area by 210 and 291 highway is not going to happen, I am sorry that all that help and support did not lead to the park opening. but this Tiffany Springs area is closed for now, the city is having meeting and is using the area this fall for a managed deer hunt. I guess what I am asking is that we show some restraint from trespassing into this area until the city votes as which to open or close this area, I know that as of now they have installed 5' fences to stop trespassers from crossing into the area. PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THIS PARK, we all know the closest place to ride as of right now is Deepwater, and this would be great deal closer if it opens. Sweetness.. this would be soo awesome if this happens.. what other information do we have about .. like size of the area and what the terrain is like, etc.... What is more of a specific location for the proposed site so we can maybe look it up with aerial photo maps to get an idea as to what it looks like...

I would really like to see this happen! I was not ATV-ing when there was an ATV park there the first time. I am not part of a local club or anything, but would like to know what I can do to help make this happen.
It would really be great if we could put some kind of trail system together like Wisconsin has. I know of one trail that utilizes an old railroad bed as a trail. It's about 40 miles and goes into a few towns where you can grab something to eat or drink, get fuel, etc. Several others wind through large state parks and go on for miles, again connecting to towns and such.
Happy trails!

To answer some of your questions, the land is located off of Tiffany Springs Road and N. Childress. there is an old rock quarry located there and in the past it was used for trial bike riding where they jump for ledge to ledge with their motorcycles. The land is VERY LARGE if all is opened up, there is no rail road beds but some small quarry lakes and plenty of hills. the area is in bad shape right now cause of all the trespassing going on and some people dump trash and old cars back there. there are a number of fields and deep wooded areas and a large creek that follows most of the way thru there. I am not for sure of what can be done until the city gives it's finally OK to open and use this land but I'll let you all know as soon as I do.
Grindstone was closed due to the insurance, I was told. it was very small area to trail ride on.
I think you can see the land on one of those satellite pages, a start off address would be 9900 NW Tiffany Springs RD and head West until you run out of road and then all the wooded area you will see is in the proposed site until
you hit roads IN ANY Direction
I hope i've answered all your questions, write in if you have more

I'm not involved in a club but would be to see Tiffany Springs open to ATV's. Any local ones taking the lead on this?
The Missouri Trail Riders are horse riders. That can't be good. I say keep them away. There are tons of places to ride horses in Kansas City but none for ATVs. If they make the park on a few hundred acres for the thousands of ATV's/Motorcycles in Kansas City it will be a big mistake. All of the use will tear it up quick then get it shut down.

I hope this happens but I won't hold my breath. Tiffany is a little bigger than Perry Lake.
Here is a few pictures I took of my quad at tiffany. You can kinda tell what its like there.
