NEW Puget Sound/Seattle/Northwest area riders MEET HERE!!! thread
[quote=HappaRap;2880532] No land line here for more than two years
Good Morning PSAR!
A belated HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone. So busy with kids and grandkids yesterday I never made it on here.
We got snow the past couple of days, had to plow the driveways a couple of time and this morning it's almost 40 degrees out. Big melt down going on. Gonna be a wet, muddy mess by this afternoon.
No wires other than the electricity on this place. Dishes for the TV and computers are so much better than the other options here.
Well, holidays are over, time to get back to projects around here. Think I'll rearrange the basement and do some cleanup down there. Going to put a small wood working area in so I can make small projects when the weather is bad and I don't want to heat up the shop. Need an area to get the grandsons started on woodworking.
Have a super day.
Mike

I still only have a landline because I can't get internet any other way here. Other than satellite, and that's just not worth it since they would limit my downloads too much. As soon as cable or someone decides to provide high speed out here(not even in the boonies), I'll drop it too. Pretty common. Since that's what I do for a living, I am all too aware how many more people drop landlines every year. So is Verizon, which is why they are trying to sell it all off and let it go bankrupt. Thing about that is we still service the towers that provide wireless, so it will be interesting to see how that works out if the new company can't afford to maintain what's already there. I am in about as good a position with what I do as anyone for job security, but it's not a particularly good move for the security of our communications infrastructure.
But I digress. Happy New Year PSAR!!!! We need to do a breakfast soon!
I haven't had a phone line for years. I have an verizon wireless card and I can get the internet and do all my on-line banking on my cell phone. Most of my facebook posts are done on the cell phone... The connection is not quite as good as broadband cable, but it's much faster than dial-up.
Good to hear from you Bill! Glad things are progressing and wish you well and much more progress in the new year.
Happy New Year!
