anybody do quad riding in san juan mountains, CO
is it more for bikes and utilities or could you get away with it on a sport quad (rocks , etc.)
how about gas ? i'd be looking at 100 mile range
motels/cabins ?

I highly reccomend the alpine loop JEEP TRAIL. Bike and high ground clearance atv's such as a Polaris Sportsman or any Irs machine will work! Plan on a technical trail and a all day ride!
Another trail/road you can look at is the steep and narrow Black Bear Pass but
it is a fairly easy trail to get over. I promiss you will not find a more senic view than these two storied passes! Better be prepard for some major alltiude changes on your bikes (jetting if carbed) as you will want them running in prime condition!
I would suggest only experienced riders as it can be pretty hairy for first timers!
I would also check with the USFS to be shure that these passes are open as Co has had its fair share of snow this winter and there is still allot in the mountains and some of roads are closed!
