I Live in Florence, AL, which is in Northwest AL. The best place to ride in this area is Waterloo. It is in the extreme Northwestern part of AL. There is hundreds of miles of old logging trails to ride at high speeds or alot of trails through the woods to ride. Some of the biggest hills i've ever seen, to try to climb, and alot of mud.

man this is weird i am the exact oppisite of you....i live in the southeast corner of alabama....in fact if i got 10 miles either way i'll be in georgia or florida....mostly all we have down here is sand bars on rivers or clay pits that have'nt been posted yet (i'm pretty sure they will though). there is a beach in walton county florida that you can ride on but the permit is $150 a year for non residents and you have to own property in that county.(take note this does suck for i have no property)...well still looking for deep south places....by the way ac454 have you been to kentuck orv park in talladega?

AC454, Gordon is right about Bankhead atv trails. I have been there. Oh,....it's a place to take the small kids but then again I am not so sure about that. Met two on bicycles that where going as fast as most atvs I met. And there are the horses, yes they have there own trails to ride but they want to ride on the atv tails with dirt bikes, and 4-wheelers. They have rules and lots of them. There is this creek that you must go over on a bridge built just for the atvs,ect... but there is this urge to get off the beaten path and on into the creek, that is a no,no and a 100.00 fine if the forest personal catch you and some have been caught.
Gordon has about the best place to ride. Haven't rode there but have hunted there in the past. And when i get some all day riding time i am going to give him a call. I live in Hartselle, which is just south of Decatur.
I am also in two hunting clubs, one in waterlo it's 2500 acers, and one close to Cheroke it's 6500 acers. So I will be spending a lot of time at these places.

Maybe you two should come up to Florence, and we'll go ride in waterloo. That is by far the best place i have ever been riding.
But i tell ya, IF WE DONT GET SOME RAIN, im gonna have to buy a gas mask to ride in...DUST BOWL USA up here.

ok fellas i'm back finally and that place is pretty fun.....we rode all day and still did not get to all of the trails they had up there...plus it's only $3 to ride as long as you want....you can even ride at night if you wanna....lots of hills, jumps, mud, and wooden bridges crossing creeks....its a lot of fun..the name is kentuck orv park in oxford, al, it's not all that hard to find either...the directions are on the trails section on atv connection in alabama.
