Massachusetts trails

If I can make it, I'd like to join. Would be great to get a guided tour.
If not, I'll send them some $ for a trail map. Thanks again.

Wilson, that trail you took behind BK used to connect to the Cornish Turnpike/Cathole Road/Whitewater Brook trail. It was one of the best trail systems within 2 hours of my house until the guy across from the outdoor pool closed a section off to ATVs. I've heard more than a few reasons why he closed it but it kind of made things less accessable. To the South of the railtrail is Arrowhead Mountain Ski Are trails. Nice views from the top and there's a few miles of a loop up there too. Haven't been up there yet this season other than a trail cleanup to help out a little bit. Further down there are some trails around the Newport/Claremont line off the rail trail. One of them goes to an old Mica Mine.
The Cathole Road/Cornish Turnpike Loop has a lot of deep water/mud holes. Challenging but fun if the water isn't too high. Some of the deepest holes where I can't see bottom and haven't seen anyone go in have ways around them.
I might be able to go in a couple weeks. Not this coming Saturday.

Not sure where everyone was this weekend, but me and the gf went up to Newport, NH to try out the Sugar River Trail (Thanks to Moose...directions were spot on!)
We put on over 32 miles. About 20 of it on the rail trail. A little monotous, but really fun for an easy cruise. Plus we went into Claremont and rode some of those trails behind BK. Overall, a pretty cool place to ride. Fantastic weather and great scenery. And, my truck got us home before it died, so a really good day.

I was out riding on Saturday morning. I left Uxbridge and made it to Varney Bros concrete in Bellingham. Was a good ride except the first half getting to Bellingham is rocky. Once you hit Mendon, its much better.
Then this morning I heard and confirmed Uxbridge police were running the RR tracks from CVS to the Millville line Saturday afternoon and evening. This is the first time I've heard them do this and this is one of my main riding routes. Anyone else hear about this?

Hey guys,
Well we made it back from our trip to buffalo and also October mountain. Put on 1025 miles on the F150 and averaged about 12.5 mpg with the ecoboost motor towing the 2 quads.
Heres some things to know about the mountain if you decide to go. The place you have to park your truck and trailer are imposable to find. I have the gps location in a picture i took on my garmin gps if you need it. The signs there suck. The road that leads to the parking area is a mess. Its a dirt road with many bumps and ruts. Then when you think that is bad there a road that bares off to the right which is a steep hill. Well the hill is not only steep but its also rutted up but with old broken up *** fault. You should have a strong truck with 4x4 to tow a trailer up this hill. Once you get to the top the parking area is on the left. OH and yes theres the sign, lol ORV parking, you think they might have put it about a half mile ahead of time.
Now be warned. There is a trail that comes off the parking area. Dont be dumb like us and take that trail. Its a complete rocky mess of a trail. I scratched up the new Can Am yellow bead locks on this damn trail. And being that my fiance was new I not only had to drive my quad up the rocky hills but also her Arctic Cat which by the way ran like a bag of crap the whole time, but we will get to that in a few.
So once we got back off of that trail we went and road on this long dirt road which went on for a while. I think it went from one side of the mountain to the other. This was a wide road and you can really open up the quads but not much anything else. Off of this road were a lot of trails here and there.
We got to Lee, Mass. Sunday at around 2pm and set up our tent and took a ride for a couple hours before it got dark. Then on Monday we only got in a half a day of riding since it down pored in the afternoon and we got soaked and really cold which would have been fine if we had rain gear.
The other trails were great riding with little to no rocks at all. We drove around the reservoir and found the damn which was beautiful. There is also suppose to be a haunted grave yard somewhere on the mountain but we could not find it....yet. Next time for sure.
So back to the Arctic Cat 400, when she got to the hard parts of the trails I would let her drive the Can Am since it was new and much easyer to handle. The Arctic cat was bogging up every steep hill and with such a big machine without power steering she was having a hard time which i couldn't blame her. Getting off the Can Am and onto the Arctic Cat was like driving a New Corvette and then jumping onto a 1970s Caddy. Not fun.
But all in all she did very well riding and absolutely LOVED riding and touring the trails. So being the loving soon to be husband and sucker at the same time when I came back I put the Arctic Cat on E bay hoping it would sell for what i bought it for 1 month ago. Well of course not one call or e mail. I guess these Arctic Cats arent worth anything for resale. Who would of known? The green quad looked good to me, lol The thing really turned out to be a POS in my opinion.
So today I brought the thing to the place I bought mine from and traded her in for a 2011 Can Am 500XT. They gave me 3K for it so I lost $500.00 on it but whatever. I would have never sold the thing for any more than that anyways. We pick it up on saturday. Another $95.00 a month payment sucks but at least she wont have to ride my 800 anymore
The ride from October mountain back home to the shoreline in ct was only 1:45 minutes so we are going to take another trip back soon since we probably only covered half the mountain if that.
Here are some pictures from our trip. Some are taken with my iphone and some are with the Garmin Montana 650 GPS.

So I got the full story. Because of an incident near the tracks, while the cops were tending to that incident, someone on a quad tore *** past the scene which ticked off one of the cops. That made them do a bit of patrolling on the tracks Saturday. It wasnt a planned sting, it just happened that way. So in a way, Im more relieved. Let the riding continue!
Wilson, Im gonna keep riding in MA and a fine isnt going to stop me. I dont like having to travel over an hour to ride, waste $xx in gas, then have to travel an hour home. Thats not fun to me.

My $250 fine was a gift when compared to what they could've hit me with (well over $700 in fines)- along with an impound. You'll only get 1 or 2 warnings (maybe) before you start seeing $500+ citations from the local PD... and they will suspend your drivers license if you are a repeat offender.
IMO- The minimal time & $$ it takes to ride in an atv friendly state is nothing compared to the hell this state will put you through when you catch a DEM or local cop on a bad day while riding your atv... just saying
