Well I registered in NH today so if they're open next weekend I'm in. And if not then I'm in for whatever else is happening.

All legal NH trails close for mud season in the spring. Sometimes they will close them based on snow cover and temps.

state trails are open all winter- but close during mud season and usually open on may 23 (but can open earlier or later depending on conditions)

It's important to note, private trail / club trails systems are not regulated by state guidelines so, there may be plenty of trails open even during mud season- you'll have to go to the clubs web site to get updates on their trail system...

I think, this is only short time closing. They want to save trails during warmer weather. Trails are still open for snowmobiles. This info is from LMFT club website. There is a forum with Official trail condition thread.
I pray for cold weather next Sat.

Newport-Claremont Sugar River Trail is open all year long. No mud season. But it is only 12 miles one way mostly rail bed. Nice scenery.

I did a lot of reading last night about this and you are right. Seems NH owned or leased leased trails get closed in the spring because of mud. Iam glad to be wrong on this one.
