Anyone from the Detroit-Auburn Hills, MI area
#1
I recently moved to the Auburn Hills area. I was originally from central Pennsylvania and loved riding. I bought a new 300EX and wanted to bring it up here, but heard there weren't many places to ride. There are also a couple of my friends considering buying similar bikes from where i work (Chrysler Tech Center), but they are in similar situations. Any information would be appreciated.

Michigan has alot of awesome riding places. For sand, try silver lake sand dunes. Awesome view of lake michigan and silver lake. Huge open areas and sand hills, lots of senery, and great drag racing area. Very popular site, and worth a several hour trip.(Not open in winter months) If trail riding is your thing, there are many trails up north that go for hundreds of miles. There are maps and camp sites for these trails on the DNR.state.mi.us look through the options and you will find the map. Many public trails through michigan consentrating in the upper area. Worth a trip in my opinion too. The trails are also closed for ATV use in the winter, they are snowmobile trails in the winter. You can drive your 4x4 down the trails in the warmer months and check out the senery. (very wide and banked trails groomed trails) Advice is to hit the trails soon after winter when there groomed flat, because they become very very bumpy mid to late season from the dirt bikes. (they groom them flat every fall and spring) There are not many options other than your front yard for winter ATV riding. When spring hits, check out these hot spots!

Don't foget about the lakes of Mi. The law states that you can ride your quads on any lake that can have motor boats on them. This week end coming up is tip up town at Houghton Lake. There will be alot of quads out there. They even have races on the lake. It's alot of fun. If you go look for a banshee with cut fender it's black and red. That will be me. Stop me if you can and I'll show you around. My name is Rob.

I have allmost 1000 posts as a member, and I cant beleive I missed this area.I live in Burton Mi,about 7 miles from the place you guys call the MOUNDS.It only has 7 Acres of riding area[out of 200 acres] open for riding from 3-13 to 5-15.Not even worth the trip there. After 5-15, all 200 acres is open. There is nowhere in southern Mi to legally ride other than the Mounds. The Northern part of our state is loaded with trails though.====BILL
