Default Mt Washington Auto Road

Details about riding your ATV up the Mt Washington auto road can be found here:

http://www.mt-washington.com/autoroa...clelimits.html

Eleven of us from our club made the run yesterday. Great weather with 70's
at the base and 30's up top with 50-70mph breezes. Still plenty of rim ice on signs
and fences at the top.

All you need is a registered ATV, a valid driver's license and $10 to get to the top.
Helmets are not requried, but I would recommend some sort of face cover - bandana,
scarf, thick beard, whatever. Goggles are nice too because of the wind. Bring winter
coats and gloves, you will need them.

You can drive your ATV up anytime the road is open, although in high winds and rain
they may not let you up. 50-70mph winds are not considered 'high' for Mt Washington.

You cannot ride 2-up unless the ATV is a factory two-seater. The road is about 70% tar
and we were doing 15-20mph on the way up and maybe a little faster on the way down.
There are plenty of pull-offs to cool the engine and/or brakes or to enjoy the views once
you get above the tree line.

We may get back over there this year to do it again. And yes, you do get the 'This ATV
climbed Mt Washington' sticker for your ride!
