I know all you guys will have a good time and I'll be missing it too. Just gonna have to wait until next year to do the Poker Run, in the Uppers Towns, when ever Rich gets it arranged. Bill, don't forget to mention "The Toys for Tots" coming up at The Mounds.
See ya,
Chuck

Well, this is the week to the UP. Who has decided to go? I talked with Bill and we figured on meeting at the BP (exit 126 on I-75) at about 8:00 am. Thursday. Anyone going that would like my Cell phone number drop me an email. Me and Bill are riding up together. There has been snow up in the UP so bring warm gear just in case it's still there. I hope we have a good turn out. And Chuck the Grizz is running good. Something about it beats xplorers in the manual (who'd a thought). Could be interesting. It's getting stronger each time I ride. Keep the President on his toes at the meeting. Looking forward to the total count for the trip.

Ride safe,
Jeff

Cruiser,
Quadstock called me and said that he will be just a few miles in front of you and I this Thursday. He has to be in Saginaw at 8am to pick up his check and he said he will call me on my cell phone when he returns to I-75.

I have'nt heard from Frank[swampdog]yet?I dont know for sure what he's up to?

I contacted Joe G last night and he cant make it,he said something very important popped up?I think Scott is still going?

Looks like the weather is going to co-operate with us?

The Xplorer is running very strong.Something about it is faster than the Grizz?.................[I hope?].................

YES BILL, I am still going. As you found out Joe cannot attend, he called me also... but that wont stop me from making the trip up! I'll meet you guy's as planned at the BP gas station exit 126 on I-75 @ 8:00 a.m. (like always). I'm TRYING to get a digital camera for the trip so we can post some pics on the MATVA site. It can even make MPEG'S so we could get some action pics possibly of some two racing?? I wonder, hmm, or even better yet, getting pulled out !!!

Don't forget, pray to the "SUN GOD", regardless it will be fun !!

I also want to talk to you guys about maybe taking one of our riding days in the U.P and going towards Marquette? There are very few hills near Hulbert Mi[that I know of?] and I know that Marquette is full of hills. Its only a little over an hr away from Hulbert. We can talk about that later.Scott,do you have my cell phone? You can call me at the BP station if your running late or get into trouble?

The fun is getting CLOSER!

It's an hour alright , going about 100 mph, (crying out loud it's 100+ miles from Hulbert). Don't forget some of us are father south than Flint, Bill. That would make a 7.5 hour drive home, geez. I'm willing to go just about ANYWHERE though as long as we make it to the FALLS one day. Heck if we go to Marquette I'll get my friend from Houghton to go, it's closer for him than us, lol. Would that affect are stay at Rich's place. Yes I do have your home/cell #'s, thanks. I'll call if need be.

p.s. heck I could be riding the Hatfield/McCoy rec area (8 hour drive for me/Detroiter)just kid'n - I would be honored to ride with you guys, anywhere.....

Scott,
sorry, but I did'nt realize Marquette was that far from Hulbert?I dont want you guys bitchin at ME when we dont do any hill climbing.I've been to Hulbert two times in a yr,and have found NO hills worth talking about.Maybe rich knows where to find them,I sure dont.

Im CERTAIN that Marquette has hills,LOTS of them.My brother used to reside in Christmas Mi,thats a 45 minute drive to Marquette from there.Anyways,we can talk about this when we arrive in Hulbert.I'll do whatever you guys want to do.

Marquette is 2 1/2 hours west of Hulbert. Also, Marquette County has turned down the road issue hands down. The sheriff is dead against it.

There are hills that are awesome up by the Iroquios Inn just west of Brimley. Some of the riders at the poker run tried to climb them and some they could, but one they can't. They had fun trying though.

I will be up there on Thursday evening, but probably going right to my bow blind if we get in before dark. See you at the hotel.

By the way Bill, I might still owe you a beer.

Rich,
I was'nt refering to just any Marquette Forest road for riding.Marquette and other U.P Counties have DESIGNATED ORV trails that are specifically for off road use,the Sheriff has NO say so on ANY of these. These are LEGAL trailheads that the Sheriff cant say or do anything about. One is the NORWAY ORV trail. It is a 65 mile ride and full of alot of differant terrain.Birch Hill is another DESIGNATED ORV trail that is suppose to be VERY DIFFICULT trailhead?Baraga Plains is another. All three of these are for ATV use. There are MANY more, but it would take us WAY on the west side of the U.P.Maybe next yr?

If we can find a few hills close by,I'd just assume stay.Perhaps you could give us directions[or even show us] to get to the Iroquios hills?Looking forward to seeing you,
Bill

Bill, if you remember, Rich is talking about the hills that we didn't have time to make last trip there. The hills are just north of Brimley and the casino. Probably a little west too, as Rich dedscribed. If you remember, some of the guys that made it said, you can see 1000 miles once you get to the top. I think it's gonna be cold when you get there... Take your snow mobile outfit...
Have a great time guys...
Chuck
