Guys, what it amounts to is the state of Indiana requires you to have your atv registered and insured in order to ride legally on state owned property or county roads. Upon recipt of your application you will be issued registration numbers that you will display on your bike. As I understand it it's like when I ride in Ky. I have to be registered in Ky. even though I live in In. A $6.00 fee and $200 a year for 500grand insurance coverage is better than a large fine and possibly having your ride impounded which they can and will do. Friend almost learned the hard way. It's either that or run the Badlands, Troy runs a super nice park.

I still don't understand why the people at the DNR that I have talked to know nothing of this Spurgen. I'm not getting state numbers on my quad to invite the luxery tax accessor unless I have state property to ride on - does ANYBODY have some actual written info on this place?? I used to ride coal mine properties, and that was all put to a stop years ago due to liability issues and is now patrolled, so I'm leary about new places unless I'm sure they're cool with the owner. Private land owners typically need a waver signed so they have better sue protection - where do you sign here?

Any motor vehicle operated on Indiana roads has to be insured to a min. of $250,000 per incident liability. Check with your local sheriff's office, or state police post, or for that matter call your auto insurance agent. Besides, as cheap as it is who wouldn't want the satisfaction of being insured?
Hightower: The less the DNR knows of Spurgen the better. Coal co. ownes most of the property but part is forestry. We already lost a good place to ride at Lynnville. Don't tell everything you know and maybe we can ride here a while longer.
