Has anyone done any riding in the Moab, Utah area (Canyonlands and Arches national parks included)? I am looking at going out there for the weekend this Friday. From what I've heard, the area is spectacular. I have a really good off-road book called "Guide to Moab, Utah Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive trails", the trails in the book look like a lot of fun, but the book is geared more towards Jeeps, etc.
So I'm kind of wondering if these trails and backroads are accessible to ATV's. I can't see why they wouldn't be. I'm not sure if ATV's are allowed in Canyonlands and Arches national parks, any input would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to get one more trip with the new Grizzly before the snow flies. Thanks in advance for all replies.

Auger,

Lots of good riding around moab for your 4 wheeler. You can go on most any of the jeep roads. I do not believe you can go into arches or canyonlands on your ATV.. Enjoy this weekend, I am heading up to the Walden dunes.

You can't ride in the parks but there are several trails and roads you can ride on on the outer edges of the parks. Basically you can see the same type of terrain as you can in the park. Just stop or call the local ranger station in Moab and they can provide you with the correct maps. There are also several other web pages that list trails on those areas. www.utahatvtrails.com, and www.atvutah.com.

One of the ATV Clubs I belong to will be going over the weekend of the 12th. They make two trips donwn each year. One in the Spring and one in the fall. This is their fall ride. The president of the club is really experienced with riding the trails down there. his web page is www.pathfinderzz.com.
