Arkansas ride - Lake Greeson to Ridge trail and back - November 8-11
This will be a very long ride and will will carry all our gear on our quads. We leave the truck at sunrise Sat. morning and will not return to the truck until Monday. Some of the trails will be very technical and steep. This is a guys only ride - no kids or women. This is for experienced riders only. You will need to haul at least 10 gallons of gas plus your food and shelter.

Greg,
I just wanted to ask a few questions...
How many folks do you anticipate on coming?
10 gallons of gas? What is the most efficient way to carry that much in your opinion? I know my SP500 will go between 50-80 miles on a tank depending on how its driven....
What do you anticipate the total distance of the trip to be?
Thanks! I'm looking for an excuse to get away from work for a weekend....

As of now, only 3 have confirmed. Several others would like to go if we would decide on a base camp. They do not want to haul their gas and tents, and some will have to leave Sunday night. They are welcome to head back to the truck whenever they want. Our goal is to make it from Lake Greeson to Albert Pike. We know the rest of the way, so we will probably back track to the trucks at this point. If we accomplish this on Sat. we will load up and head over to Fourche Mountain for the Sunday ride. If we do not, we will setup camp along one of the rivers/creeks there in Caney Creek Wildlife Refuge. TexMud wants to join us, but he has not committed. And, BarryClark has a few friends that have ridden with us before that want to go, but will not if we pack our things. So, the plan is up in the air at this point. All we do know is that we are riding north of Lake Greeson.
E-mail me you number and I will call and let you know what we decide.

I think the plan is to park at Kirby landing just past the park entrance and ride from there.
I live in Texas, but graduated from Russellville. My family still loves there and I come visit several times each year. We will get there Friday night and head out around day break Sat. morning.
Why don't you ride with us rather than offering to shuttle gas and trailers. We will be able to haul everything we need and even though we will have to head back to Greeson at some point, we hope to find an alternative route back.

I graduated in '88. If you graduated in 89, you probably know Tony Heidersheidt. He rides with us on almost every ride. He will be in Jamaca this weekend or he would attend also.
I went to Russellville half my junior and all my senior year, and then 3 semesters at ATU. I dated Anne Hernes in High School and hung around George Forbes and Tony while I was in school there. I moved to Texas and graduated from Texas A&M and have been here every since.
I do not know of any quads for sell in good condition like the ones you mentioned. I would avoid the Grizzly 600 at all cost. I wouldn't even reccomend the 660. If I were buy right now and were not intending on riding in the mud, I would consider one of the new Hondas... the Rubicon or the Rincon, or for basically any terrain the SP700. All the bigger bore bikes still have issues. The SP500 HO is as good as it gets if you want a fun to ride, reliable bike.
