hello all...I am planning a trip out to arizona. I see that there are alot of places to ride out there...I was wondering if anyone had any information on how the trails/dunes are out there and if there are any places to rent bikes that we can ride on our own and not go on a tour....I am actually thinking about moving out there and i want to see how the riding is......thanks for any info you can give me.....

Hey hondagirl,
Arizona is a great place to ride with lots of various levels of difficulty. If you move to Scottsdale it will take you about 4 hours drive time to ride the largest sand dune area in America. Good stuff!!!! You will find plenty of people to ride with in short time. Welcome to Arizona and good riding.

Flagstaff has an area known as the "Cinders", named for all the tiny lava rock from several extinct valcanos. The riding is very scenic with some of the biggest and steepest hill climbs in the country. You can literally ride into the bowl of several valcanos, one of which is very deep. Unfortunately, the best quad you'll be able to rent is a Polaris Trail Blazer type. That won't get you far, so most of your riding will be viewing the valcanos from the bottom, but still a neat place to check out. Have fun!!
