Thought Id throw this out here. Just curious if anyone want to get a ride together for this coming weekend up to Wallace? ? Like on Saturday Aug 26?
I was going to go riding up to Selway but those plans fell thru. The guy I was going to go with, turns out for awhile he has had no stregnth in his left hand at all, turns out he has a crushed disk in his neck and is going in for surgery friday. So he is out of the game for a bit.
Would love to get out at least 1 day this vacation and take a good long ride.
Ragged?? Xploridaho??? GWP??? scrambhler?? Jay??? Anyone?

800TwinEFI, I haven't done Canfield yet. We've talked about it a few times but haven't managed to get there yet. A friend of mine that lives near Athol has said that from his house he can get to just about anyplace like Mt. Spokane, 4th of July Pass, etc. so that makes the Canfield area sound pretty cool.
We've gone up around Chewelah, out near my wife's family in Montana (around Canyon Ferry Lake south of Helena), and just made it up to Elsie this weekend. Elsie was pretty cool, we'll need to explore some more up there in the future. We did manage to get off onto the wrong trail and hit some switch backs that the wife wasn't real excited about. We were trying to hit 106 and make our way to Wallace but missed the trail due to a missing sign and me not paying attention to the map.
FWIW, the Exit number outside of Kellog for Big Creek is Exit 54. 51 drops right into Kellog. Parking was huge up Big Creek and that is an easy way into Elsie. We were surprised at all the car traffic in and out of there. Some nut job was driving a VW Jetta along the road to Elsie. I'm sure that car took a real beating through some of the ruts and rocks.

I try to keep my driving time (in the truck) down to a small amount when going riding just because thats more time I can spend on the trails. If I'm not mistaken, your commuting from Spokane Chad, so Canfield is perfect for you. There is also a good parking area to load and unload. I know you have little ones so time is most likely valuable for you too. If your not familar, you just take the 15th street exit and hang a left. Then drive down oh maybe 2 miles (if that) and hang a right on Nettleton Gulch road if I recall (somebody correct me if I'm wrong). The beauty of this spot is you can get out to the place I mentioned prior (out off Bunko road) from Canfield. You can get up to Honeysuckle. You can get anywhere. I remember Jay telling me a long time ago that was the place to go and he really is right. Be sure to bring extra gas. You'll cover a lot of miles out here very quickly. I bought my quad in Feb and I have over 400 miles on her. I have only taken her out about 6 times this year

800TwinEFI, I took your advice and hauled the family out to Canfield today. It is a pretty nice area up there. We did a good 30 miles or so before both kids were asleep on the ATVs with us. We've found it is a whole lot harder to ride while trying to support a sleeping kid. My wife liked it as well so that means we'll be back for sure.
Thanks for the suggestion,

A friend of mine said he uses one of his tie down straps to strap his son to him. As you said, it makes it easier to drive when they zonk out. He also does it so that if he has to quickly bail off the ATV he knows his son will be going with him.
take care,

Chad, this is what we use. My son was 1 when we started using it. He is now 4 and although he does not wear it any more, it still fits. You won't be disappointed. Kid karrier
