I think the whole duel thing most likely wasn't thought out to the degree it should have. I think the only ones who are going to respond is Can-am. Which isn't a shocker. But I seriously doubt he will get fired over it. I think really thats the only one they needed to have respond. Everybody knows Can-am is on top right now. So if you win something against them thats great. And if you lose, well that is no shocker. So it's a no risk situation there. Anything else was gravy. Matter of fact, when you look at it that way, and put the cheese factor aside, it might not have been a bad idea at all. But the whole CEO thing...I mean who cares. I mean most times (not all the time) when somebody says "Hi. I'm the CEO of XYZ" the first thought in my mind is ....so your the one bleeding this company dry eh?

So why do you think he'd be fired over this duel? I bet they hold this crap over every manufacturer's head for years to come..... that they wouldn't even come & compete. And I think the average consumer will think that Polaris is all that, without thinking about the age, riding ability or location of any of these executives.
If Polaris really wants to make it an even playing ground, they should have a 3rd party ride all the machines thru a variety of terrean & rate them on all of it, ie; trails, hill climbs, sand, mud, snow, etc. But of course their chicken to do that.

They already did have a third party do a test like that.....It's now a bombardier commercial.
It's kind of stupid to expect senior citizens like the yamaha CEO to come and compete, but his turning the duel down will surely be seen by Polaris riders as a sign of fear.

Hey Viper. Saw your message in the other thread and thought I would just reply here.
I actually went on a wonderful ride yesterday. We rode up to Mount Spokane from Twin Lakes. Beautiful day to take in all the wonders that mother nature offers up. It was quite cold in the morning even with thermals on. But around 11 am it was quite comfortable. Even got some nice mud in once we got on Mount Spokane. Lots of hunters out. I doubt anybody got anything. The only thing I saw was a squirrel. I might go this weekend. We will see. I need to do some maintenance on the machines. Was looking at my airfilter and she is mighty plugged. I have never cleaned it yet.
Funny thing is I have rode up to Mount Spokane a few times and it seems each time I find a new route. My favorite is closed now. Which kinda stinks...via Brickle Creek. It's foot traffic only now.
Interestingly, I noticed signs in Mount Spokane State Park stating that if they catch you back there on a ATV they will impound it and fine you. Needless to say, we didn't venture on to that land. Amazing. Thats all I can say. I think the State needs a good strong adjustment in it's perspective on State land and what that concept means. Is it just me, or is WA not a real ATV friendly state?

I think just to be smart all the other manufacturers should appoint a bunch of young hard riders as their CEO's and take the challenge. Would be very funny.

Wiz;
Viper and I went riding up at 3 rocks Thursday and someone put a note on my pickup telling me that everything around there is closed to motorized traffic, and I will be fined next time they see my truck parked up on that corner where we unload. Is 3 rocks off limits to atv's? I sure didn't pass even one sign saying so. The note looked to me like it was printed up on someone's computer just to see if they could get people to stay away.

JayDee, where is 3 Rocks at? My dad is in town this weekend so I'm tossing him on the wife's ATV to go riding this Sunday. I was looking at my travel plan maps this evening and see a lot of areas in the National Forest that are closed as of Labor Day. Not sure if 3 Rocks is one of them.
If anyone has some good suggestions we're open to ideas. Also, if anyone is planning to ride this Sunday we'd love to meet up.
Later,
chad

Hey Jay,
Sorry it's taken so long for me to respond, I've got some kinda virus in this danged computer, but anyways, was there any official looking name or agency listed on your "warning"?? Probably not, a lot of the neighbors in that area don't like ATVers and dirt bikers, so they try to scare them off with those tactics.
But in reality, Three Rocks area is a checker board of private and state lands. I always buy a Inland Paper permit, but according to their rules, you may only access their lands through manned gates, but there isn't any on the north side of Mt Spokane, so I'm bending the rules when ever I ride on their land. I wouldn't be suprised if less than 10% of the people riding up there even have a permit.
I've also noticed when the loggers get done logging an area now, they do their best to rip up all the new roads they've created, and tearing out culverts, just to discourage ATVers.
It wouldn't suprise me if the whole area up there is closed of for motorized traffic in a few years, because of all the abuse and litter that shows up increasely every year. It'll be a sad day 'cause, I've been riding up there for over 40 years and I'm gonna miss it..............Wiz

Talk about litter, some jerk rolled a mitsubishi little suv off the top of the rocks and then just let it sit there with pieces all over the place.
