Ya thnaks for "recruiting" us. We know what you mean about wanting to go on a long ride. We think we are going to be able to do about 80 miles on saturday as we are heading down to St. Maries and then to Avery and calder then up to wonderful peak and mastadon mtn. OUr friends own a river lot up the St. Joe so we get to stay there. WOOHOOO!!

Not only do we enjoy 4-wheeling but also "geocaching" Not sure if ya'll have heard of it but its basically a treasure hunt that you find using GPS's. Anyway-thats why we were ontop of Shasta Butte as there is a "cache" up there. IF anyone is interested in findidng out more information the website is www.geocaching.com.

Its just one of our hobbies and it allows us to get out and use our 4 wheelers and take them into areas that we would have normally not gone.

We are headed to Elsie Sat early am. 2 of my buddies will be there Fri night. They are talking of going from there to Mastadon and Avery area. I have no idea about that area at all. The friend I told everyone was shopping for an ATV bought an 04 1/2 Polaris Sportsman 400 and a trailer. He wanted bigger but didn't fit the budget. I just brought to his attention that it doesn't come stock with EBS, so he is a little upset. He has never ridden and doesn't know anything about quads. Hopefully it will work out for him. I rode it a little and it seems fine, but I bet he ends up having the dealer install EBS.

Maybe we'll see someone up there? I ride a Vinson, and there will be a yellow sportsman 500, an Explorer, and an old Polaris 2 stroke with us.

 

My husband and i have 2004 Yellow Polaris 600's and our friend has a yellow Polaris 700. I think we are giong to unload in Hoyt and head up from there. We will be looking for you and hope to catch ya on the trail.

Pastor--Thanks for the offer on the Magellan--but we both have garmins and really like them. However, if i hear of anybody i will let u know.

I checked out that website Kori....looks fun! You should check it out before you unload your GPS Pastor....If I hadent just tore my sled compleetly appart I would think about takin it off your hands..But Im in a limmited cash flow situation...ya know what Im sayin?

Ragged...One of our esteemed brothers chided me for backing out of tommorrws ride...in reality I would love to go...but I am working 'round the property and 'round the clock getting ready for more company next week! I would like to put something together for the 2nd. weekend in July....a ride at deadman creek. In fact, I am thinking of going up on fri. night...what do you guys think? If you think you might be interested in the GPS in a week or 2 I would gladly hold it for you. See ya sun. Remember our meeting at 11: 45...Pastor

 

Pastor...GWP called about 11pm last night and wanted to go for a quad ride to the top of Rathdrum Mt. LOL Chris was still here and wanted to go so away we went! We were ontop at midnight! What a great view of all the lights from up there...Zak and Whitney came along and had a ball...!!
Would like to try a night ride to Shasta bute...That would be a great night view I think...

Hey all!
We did two 50 mile rides yesterday up the st joe. The first being up to Wonderful Peak. The trail was awesome and the views were just as good. We were told you could only hike up here--but we found the right trail and after a little technical riding we made it to the top. Also met some other riders up there that were from Wallace!!
Anyway rode off the mtn and went back to camp and had some lunch then loaded the machines back up and went up to Calder and unloaded there. Then rode up to Mastadon Mtn. Now talk about a fun ride. Had to do some road riding then hit the trail and man was it fun. The views were awesome and the weather couldnt have been more perfect. On the way back down ran head on into an cow elk. Luckily she was just as scared of us as we were of her. All and all it was a great ride.

We ended up camping at Moon Pass again. Lake Elsie was full early Fri afternoon. We got caught in a dime size hail storm at Champion Creek just above Wonderful peak. We went to Avery after the storm and drove past Hoyt towards St. Maries looking for Mastodon trailhead but couldn't find and got tired of riding the main highway so headed back to Slate Creek. How do you get to the Mastadon trailhead? Any other good trailheads near Wallace or Avery area? Anyone been north of Wallace? I hear there is an old ghost town up there where just a few people live nearby!
