About five or so years ago a group of snowmobilers were up around Lake Elsie and one of them was video taping one the group high marking. The camera guy got his buddy on tape riding out an avalanche that got triggered. It made the news.
There are trails across some of the ridges around Elsie. Threre's a trail that goes down to Bronson Meadows to. Down there you can find some places where old cabins used to sit. A few years ago we found a cabin that was still being used. There's another trail that goes down to the bottom of another drainage that was kind of fun. The last time I was on it it was getting pretty brushy. If a person gets up early or stays late and does some glassing from the ridge tops you're likely to see some elk, bear and deer.
My wife and I are going to double up on the 700 and do a little riding out of Clark Fork, Id on Thursday. We own a few acres with a hunting cabin about 8 miles out of town. I need to get some fallen trees off my hunting trails so we'll do that first. Then it'll be time to do a little riding.
Take care,

Finally got a chance to do some riding this past weekend. It's only been about 9 months, talk about bad planning. Went to Laird park, about 20 miles NW of Moscow ID. Only a couple inches of snow, beutifull sunny day, temps in the 40s. It was a new trail to us, and it was a great ride. Can't wait to get out and do some more riding.
P.S. Still looking for a 2wd Honda Rancher or 300TRX

Went to our property out of Clark Fork, ID. While there one of my neighbors stopped by. His wife's family live in Western Montana and they said that Montana forests may shut down as early as May if we don't start getting some rain.
My wife and I, riding double, were able to get about 6 miles up the mountain before almost getting stuck in the snow. We made it past the 332 road that heads towards Coeur d'Alene along the ridges. Nice day to be out and about. I'm going to add some photos to my photo page if anyone is interested. One is of the sun setting over Lake Pend Oreille.

We just got back from Kalispell, visiting our friends new baby. Anyway, we saw a lot of people with 4 wheelers, not sure where they were going though. We did see that there is an ORV park at blacktail ski area. Or at least around there. Our friend works for the forest service so he is giong to find out about some good riding areas.
Anyway-do you have to have a different offroad sticker or is it like license plates, if you have one its good for any state HEHE!!

Has anyone ridden the Christmas Hills ORV park around St. Maries? Anyways, I was ther with some friends today and it was really neat. Alot of trails thru the woods and some really cool mud holes. Just thought that I would pass it along.

akkarw, I believe that most states will honor another states off road sticker. Some states may also require a license plate if you're driving your atv on maintained roads. About five years ago some states back east were requiring that out of state snowmobiles have their states groomer tags. So, with laws frequently changing I guess the best advice is to check with whatever state you're headed to.
