I cant compare with a stock machine anymore but I raced a V force and I felt it was in the 400EX class, no real competition for my 686. I think you've got some jetting issues. My 686 is running way lean on top but the stock V force was easily whooped like the 400ex.

mr45auto- to say that a kawasaki 700 that is piped and jetted is in the same class as a 400 ex is not a very intelligent statement to make.why would you question my jetting when you have never seen my quad run?i imagine that if your 686 is built further than mine it would beat mine but i am sure that i wouldnt be that far behind.you showed me what you dont know when you made your comment about the 700 kawi being like a 400 ex so i will take what you have to say with a grain of salt.

That's fine, I watched a piped 400ex beat a V force at Sand Lake. I rode the V force as well and it was a nice machine but certainly no powerhouse. I'm simply stating that either your 686 is a very mild machine or you may have some jetting issues to sort out. To be fair, I havent run with a modified V force yet and I dont know, it might be a different ballgame altogether. It's not BS it's just my experience which is admittedly limited. Btw the 400ex rider does show up around here sometimes (chad400ex) I just read your other post about not yet having an aftermarket cam and this may account for some of your difference. I'm running the Hotcams stage 2 and pulled on the stock V force easily.

102mm 11:1 piston, you should have beat them by 5-6 7,8 bike lengths imo.
How much for our "seat 'o the pants dyno???"
Good thing it was just In Your Opinion..
IMO I think that is an excellent report. Ive seen the 300 cc Gas Gas on vendor row at Glamis, but never seen it run the hill. Thanks for your report!

First let me say I liked the review as well. I don't get to see many of the new quads until they are out for at LEAST a year. There just isn't many people buying new sport bikes down here. So I try to pay attention to what everybody says about them on here. So thanks for the news.
But with that being said and NOT trying to be a knowitall or anything, honestly, I think your are probably running pretty rich too. 175/180 are some pretty big jets for no cam or port work, IMHO. But I when I was running the two clamp-ons when it was just piped my jetting seemed very rich to everybody else. So I guess you would be the only one to know, but I thought I would add that anyway.
Thanks again for the report.

well not that it matters to all of you, but i'll let you know anyways, dune does happen to have a little insite on the honda 400, his wife rides a 440 which runs very well. like i said earlier its not a long hill, i'm sure your right the v would fade on a longer hill but on the one in florence that dual exhaust one runs great. as far as his jetting he will get it worked out his is one of the nicest raptors i've ever rode, and amazingly fast it runs with the other 686 and 690 around here so it's not slow.

WARD660R- i will have to agree with you that 175-180 mains is big but all i can tell you is that from top to bottom my raptor runs great.i definitely want to hear other peoples opinions about performance mods and what works for them but on the other hand i have to go with what works for me but thanks for the input anyway.
