Default blaster jetting and air box??

I read that you should move the clip up on the needle and change the jet a size larger or so, and take off the air box lid. But should you or would it be bad to do so with out geting a after market pipe such as a toomy or fmf fatty?

if you get toomey, like i did, it cvomes with vents yuo can put in your lid, but i just run with it off, as stuart toomey recommends

the proper main jet comes with the toomey and the needle has to be moved from the 2nd clip to the 3rd clip from the top. some 03's have been coming with the 3rd needle clip already, but better check first to make sure

But should I bother with the lid and jet before I get a pipe?
Thanx,

no just wait for the pipe, you wont notice much of a difference with just the lid. hold tight, youll be glad when you get it all on there and feel the power. mmmmm power

toomey comes with a 310 main, says raise the needle one, use their air filter, included also, and leave the airbox lid at home.
hauls the mail! and i am at 4000' . goes like crazy!
making intake changes wont help ya much without the pipe, cuz its so restrictive. pushing more in is a waste unless you're letting it get out. get the pipe, you're gonna be thrilled! Really! i've yet to see anyone say anything bad about toomey and his service.
I am really happy with mine!
