I was wondering if anyone has any info on jetting and/or air box mods to make my stock Banshee run a little harder. All replies are appreciated!

a 400ex as well

Don't know how much good it'll do if you just to the box cuz I did the box,filter and pipes all at once.
But here goes...Unless you ride in a lot(more than a few creek crossings)of water remove the inner lid that's a huge obstruction more than the snorkle( I tried both ways).I ended up with the snorkle on and about 8 1" holes in the outer lid. I cross steams everytime I ride and have only had the drain cap have water in it once or twice and never enough water to cause probs with the way the motor ran.I think I'm at 230 jets right now but that will change with your altitude and your bike.mine runs best this way while a friends with the same mods likes 240's best????go figure.

I run a k&n filter and have to say thie first mod should be a pro-flo adapter for the filter.You can get it for the K&N or with a foam filter.I've seen too many trashed pistons to recommend anyone runs stock setup any longer than they have to.

the post above says 230 jets.....i don't think that's quite right. if i don't miss my guess, the factory jet is a 300. but anyway, i went to the k&n filter on my banshee, bought an outerwear cover for it, and will run it without the airbox lid. i went up two steps on the main jets to 320. good luck.

My Banshee came with 200 mains here in WV. I believe the extra jets under the seat are 220, 240, and 260's. So you went up 20 points when you installed the K&N and opened the airbox lid? Did this seem to be a noticable difference?

not particularly noticeable difference, but the plug color would suggest i'm running about right. it's really more for peace of mind -- the stock air filter setup is pretty bad, so you really do need to upgrade it. (more for engine life than performance.)

btw: i guess our differences in jetting woulf be due to the altitude in wv. i'm in detroit. guess i didn't think of that....

Thanks for the input. It looks like I may be better off waiting on the FMF's before any jetting changes!

Fakie99...The elevation here is about 700' - 2500'. There should not be that big of a difference in jetting (200 compared to 300). Also, checking your new post out, it is apparent that you have not changed your jetting and should not giving advise on that subject. I'll definately remember that!

quite an assumption gary, my simple friend. i have not only modified jetting on my quad to match many types of conditions, but on motorcycles, snowmobiles, etc. i've posted numerous times on this and other forums with prudent advice. (check the archives) indeed altitude changes of that magnitude WOULD justify significant jetting changes. mine came stock at 300, yours at 230 or whatever it was. kind of obvious isn't it?

assumptions are rarely constructive, my friend. so....post often and compare responses carefully. before you get to any of that, however, get busy on your homework.

So why did you post the question stating that you would like to take your air box cover off and want suggestions on jetting when you previously posted that you had went through this process? I checked with the people at Toomey and FMF. Standard Banshee Main Jet 200-220. Jetting with their pipes and FMF pipes - 270-300. Your info. is wrong! Why would I want to check your previous posts!
