I like to check mine about every three oil changes, two if I have been to the dunes. I usually find mine to be a little tight every other time or so.

Typically, whenever I check them the intakes are slightly tight and the exhausts are in spec.

I adjust / check mine after every 3 rides (10-12 hours). I like too run on the tight side of specs....so need too keep check of it.

the intakes get tight because the valves get pounded into the valve seats, thats where the gap is going.you cant get the engine to run rite if valve lash is off.valve lash effects valve timing.but the carb boots are trash from day one.
