Well, I would say that all depends on what you are looking for in a quad. The 400EX would be my personal pick of the two for sure, but the warrior does offer reverse. Have you considered anything else like a KFX or Z400?
I guess it all depends on what you want to spend, and what type of riding you plan on doing. Why not a Raptor or YFZ 450???

If buying used machines I'd go with the 400ex. If buying new I wouldnt get either. There's better quads on the market than both for not much more money. Only buy a Warrior if you get a killer deal on a pristine used one.

Actually, it comes down to what you value more. Speed or reverse. The warrior is close to a utility machine with lots of fender coverage and a low first gear. The 400ex is faster, lighter, and no reverse.

Like someone else said if you're buying used I would get the 400ex. The warrior is a good quad but it's not as fast as the ex. With mods it can be but the 400ex is already pretty quick and handles great. Not having reverse sucks and I think it sucks more than some guys on here let on. I mean in fields and stuff yeah of course who need it, but in tight trails were you might overshoot a path or hit a tree and are stopped it sucks having to roll your atv back everytime. If you would consider a suzuki the z400 has an easy reverse system and has more power than the 400ex and so far mine has been very reliable. Kawasaki kfx400 is exactly the same as a z400 but it's just green and you might have had a kawi in the past and just like the more. I've found a few of these used in atv traders and there quite a bit cheaper than buying one used. A lot have mods and are priced about the same as a new stock z400. Good luck and God bless.
