How do ya break-in a new cam and new rings at the same time ?

Since the break-in procedure is differert for breaking in a cam VS. rings how do ya do it at the same time ? I've heard that to break-in a cam ya should run the motor at 3000 rpm without idleing for around 20 min. This is quite different than the new ring break-in - What gives ??

In all the car motors I've built with new cam/lifters and new pistons/rings I run them at 2500 or so for the first ten to fifteen minutes, and vary this rpm somewhat so it's not dead steady at any certain RPM. I would sure think an ATV motor would work the same way. After that initial run-in sans load then I let it cool down, then take an easy drive, feeding light throttle to get some load against the rings and again vary the rpm, nothing too high. Works for the cars at least. The cam is the thing you need to worry about most, it's easier to screw up than the rings.
