Default Raptor pipe probs.

I just reinstalled my yoshi pipe. now i have exhaust coming from around one of the head pipes. I took the pipe off twice to make sure the pipes are not bound up. Could the metal gasket be worped or warn out causing my problem? also the motor has a real bad backfire when letting off of the gas now and occasonally sputters could this be caused by the pipes not being sealed?

P.S. the original reason i took the pipes off was because the exhaust studs broke off (2 of 4) because i torqued them down to much. i was told this was the reason be the yamaha mechanic.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like an exhaust leak for sure...I'd replace your gaskets and try again
And Yamaha in thier infinite stupidity used exhaust studs the same size as my XR50 so they won't take very much torque

When I installed my Yoshimura, it was a real bear to get things lined up, I torqued per specs in the manual and luckly everything went together without exhaust leaks. Took alot of swearing but in the end it was surely worth it.
I thought those studs should have been tighter but so far, no problems. As RAPTORJAY said replace the gaskets and give her another try.

Good Luck

My friends yoshi broke the studs too, I replaced em with 8mm year 2000 grizzly studs (had to drill theyoshi header flanges too). I think the metal on the yoshi expands more for some reason, I have heard of more broken studs with yoshi and none with other headers.

if you think Yoshi is bad..........you'd better not get a dmc for the rappy!!!
My friend had the dmc on his rappy for a week and it broke both studs of one of the headers
