I like it, i want it, but mrs.mins said NO. I rode Rod's around for a few moments tonight. First off i love the red frame. The quad sounds wimpy. The stock exhaust is restritive for sure. The head pipe looks good and will not need to be replaced in my opinion. I do not see 65 hp coming out of this quad when it is built but i like it. It is light!!! It has great handling manners. It sticks, it turn. The front shocks are stiff. I revs!!!fast!!! raps right out thru the gears. I notice with the head lights on it was like a 2 stroke. The lights must run straight off the stator. The new dunlop rear tires hook up on the track. I like the seat layout/controls/feel. I say yamaha hit a home run with this quad. As far a a mx quad it should be great. I like it better than any cannondale i have ever ridden. This is the quad cannondale should have made. If they had made it the would not have gone banrupt. I hope others get to ride it tommorow. Yamaha has raised the bar. Honda better get busy!!!

Chetracer- stock vs stock my money is on the yzf450 by a small margin. The local dealer told me tonight he is going to hammer the one they have. I do not think rodsquad will dyno his tommorow or run many full throtle races. I would not if it were mine. It is going to be a great quad!!!

 

It'll probably be awhile before they get one down here where I live. They can't keep raptors in stock right now, all they had were two banshees yesterday.

 

The yamaha dealer ran his bone stock yzf450 against a kawisaki 440 that had outrun 90 percent of the piped/raptors that were here today. The yzf450 beat the kawi440 by 1 1/2 lengths to 300 and 2 1/2 lenghts to 660. This happened 3 or 4 times in a row. They both claimed good starts and both agreed the yzf was the faster of the 2. I rode the quad a little more today and i really like it. The gearing is low to me. Good on the mx track but needs to be taller for the races. Best handling factory quad that i have ever ridden. A few simple mods (slip-on/rework the airbox ) and i think that piped/jetted any thing from polaris/suzuki/cannondale/DS will have trouble beating the new 450. It is a very good quad

 

I hope I don't sound like a idiot, but when I saw one for the first time thursday, I thought it was the new color of the '04 raptors. I saw a red one. I didn't pay much attention to it when I saw it because I didn't know yamaha was coming out with a new bike. I haven't been on since i got my quad months ago. Sounds like a cool bike. Does anyone know if any of the body parts are interchangable with the raptor?
