hey piranha, do you have a dv camcorder. i noticed all of my videos are absolutely huge using that medium(in avi and mpeg). just wondered if you had any tips for saving them smaller with vegas video...thanks

Yes, the 2nd video used a mix of both mini dv and analog for the older stuff. What I do is capture all my clips into raw .avi files that are rather large. Then I make the vid in vegas and I render it depending on what I am going to use it for. For instance the two clips I did are rendered as 256kb .wmv files and that gives "okay" quality and a pretty small file size. I also have them saved as mpeg files using the VCD template in Vegas which brings them to like 30mb. And last but not least, I have them saved as mpeg 2 files under the DVD template because I am going to record them to tape (wish I had a DVD burner). They are like 170mb rendered like that.
A uncompressed avi file of the 3 minute video is almost 900mb.
So, if you want files for the internet go for .wmv files and use the template that suits your needs. 512kbs would probably be good for like a 3 minute video that even dial up users could get. I used 256kbps cause I was uploading from a dial up and I didn't want to wait all night .
Hope this helps.
