what state is glamis in? everyone seems to talk about it alot.

 

Its about 30 minutes away from me[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] Its in California towards the very bottom real close to Arizona.

 

does it matter if i ride Wot in firt gear or should i go through the gears as if im dragging. can i let the engine warm up when i put the new plug in. what am i supposed to see. its something on the electrode if im correct. like a half moon or something. someone told me about it a while ago. thanks for the reply. later

 

warrior86, this is what I posted to you before.

Don't pay attention to color. Run it at wide open throttle with a load on it, shut it down and coast to a stop. Pull the plug. Take a flashlight and look at the electrode. There will be a silver ring around the top edge. This ring will half-moon down towards the porcelain somewhere around the electrode. If the half-moon is slight you are rich, and if the half-moon is too long you are lean. Since this is at wide open throttle it will tell you your main jet reading. Repeat the procedure at part throttle and that will tell you your needle setting. It is easiest to see when using a used plug so don't put in a new one to do this. People who use color to read plugs aren't accurately doing so.

Some of you may disagree with this procedure but it has always put my jetting dead nuts.

 

For pilot jet I've always figured it out by going real quick down the street and letting it coast to a stop. If it pops like its backfiring when I let off the throttle to coast to a stop then I just jet up on the Pilot. But of course now I dont mess with jets cuz I got the Edelbrock[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Hate to break it to you but it won't help much. My Predator with the WB slip-on, dynojet kit & K&N would pull my CT Racing kitted Raptor every time in pretty much every gear. Top speed on a LONG LONG stretch the Raptor would slowly creep up on the Predator but it took so long it wasn't worth much. The Raptor is very fast and I beat every other Raptor I ever raced with other brand pipes so it's not that. The Predator motor pulls hard in the upper powerband. I just got rid of both of them and bought a YFZ450 which pulls even better than the Predator in stock form. Good luck.

yeah thanks for the info about the electro plug reading. I knew someone posted it before but i have so many posts and threads i wanted to see if i could get it outta someone without searchin every post. thanks, ill try it.

and about the race. i dont understand. if a raptor is a 660 and the predator is a 500, wouldnt the bigger engine put out more torque to pull through the higher gears? this really annoys me that this kid can possibly hang with me because he is such a no ***** rider he doesnt deserve it. maybe i should go for an aftermarket filter, but i really dont need more jetting hassles. maybe ill wait for this kid i know to teach me about jettin. is blaster jetting the same as any other jetting. caues he knows about jettin but its for blasters. is it all basically same design and principal? thanks for the replies as usual/warrior86

 

I would bet that quadzilla would get spanked by most of these quads...I have never seen one without major mods that would come close to beating the predator. I have raced many w/ my Sparks 250r (265 national motor) and they can't even beat that...the Predator would walk the 'r' everytime in a drag race. The worse part is you probably have to spend more time wrenching on the quadzilla rather than riding it. I am sure it is fast, and you could gear it to beat most on top end at the expense of acceleration and ridability, but keep it real!

 

Real? its the truth!Quadzilla will not get beaten by any quad.It will beat a raptor.IT would be a close race.But the quadzilla would win.exspecialy mine.I hit in the 90smph.Ive beaten sleds too.They have great bottom end and everyone knows that they have killer topend.From stock to stock to mod to mod.quadzilla will be on top
