first time owner question
#1
I just recently purchased a 1993 YFM350ERE. I noticed that when I was done riding that the lines going to the oil cooler where not warm at all, while the engine was, of course, hot. I drained the oil to check and clean the oil filter........that was fine. My question is, should I remove the oil cooler and attempt to blow air through it to see if it is plugged, and also is there a way to check to see if the oil pump is working correctly? Thanks.

Have you checked the oil filter to make sure its not plugged? If so...
Crack the line on the side of the oil cooler away from the pump. Start the bike and see if any oil is pumping through the cooler. If you get nothing, crack the line on the pump side. If you get oil then, the cooler is probably plugged. If not, you better pull the pump.
Let us know how it goes.

Wow a newbie that has a question before he broke something...sounds like someone who pays attention...you certainly want to make sure that you have good oil pres or that motor won't last to long

Hounddog - I took the filter back out and blew air through the oil cooler inlet close to the filter. Oil (much dirtier) came out the outlet. It really didn't seem like it was bad enough to cause an obstruction, but when I re-assembled it....filled the oil, and ran it.......the lines are now hot. Thanks for the help all.
