would taking my air filter lid off hurt my engine if i get dirt and water in there?

 

i just take it off when i need the power. but if your racing and things like that its an easy why to get more power. and if you don't use an outerwear, your air filter gets dirty faster. nothing gets in your motor just on the filter.

 

Be careful with the air box cover, trust me! Your thoughts of water causing problems are correct. I have an 03 in the shop right now, it had 4 holes drilled in the lid. If your interested in what's actually wrong I'll post it when I find out. A step up in a main jet size is cheap. Good luck.
