Well this is what I have to say. It's not bad to down a better and go riding. 16 is alot but people are different. If you can handle it without going into an overboard drinking spree (which ya didnt) then theres no problems with it. If you can cantrol yourself then its not to big a deal with me. I get pissed off at the kind of people who flip out on **** like this. I also think everyone should mind there own business and answer the question. The only harm he did was to himself and he paid for that now he learned. Bottem line is if you can handle 16 beers then its ok to have 16 beers. If you can't then dont or you will get hurt.

WOW. I have to say, that when I first posted my story, I didn't expect this controversy. To you who did offer help and advice on the problem I origionally posted for, ie. FENDERS, I thank you. To those of you who decided to jump all over me for admitting that I made a mistake.... well, you're entitled to your oppinions, and I'm not even saying that you're wrong. I will however say that some of you could and should have been more mature about it, and you know who you are. You can get a point across without childish name calling, and saying things like you wished I had gotten hurt, or I wish you broke your bike into a million pieces. Now just to clarify things a little better, I want to say this..... I DID have a backup light that night, but it was covered in mud like the rest of my bike. I DID drink a lot of beer that day, but I also drank alot of water, ate alot of food, was very active, and only averaged a little over a beer per hour. Besides that, I'm a pretty big guy, and can handle a fair amount of alcohol. I'm not saying I wasn't over the legal limit for driving a car, but I didn't feel drunk, before or after the accident. Most of the beer I drank was after I left the rest of the pack. There were only 2 of us, and we were on his private property, in the middle of nowhere, at 2:00am, with almost no chance of seeing another bike, so the chances of running into someone else were almost nil. And finally, I didn't have the accident from an overdose of liquid courage. What I mean is I wasn't hot-doging at the time. We had stopped at the top of this cliff that looked out over the ocean while we dicussed where to camp out for the night. When I went to leave, I backed in a horseshoe direction, and because my reverse light was covered in mud, I didn't come out of reverse in time. Just as I managed to hit 1st gear, the back wheels dropped over the edge, and the front came up on me. The rest is history. I'd also like to say, that I don't think there is anything wrong with having a few when you're out on the bikes, and I often will bring a few with me, as does everyone I know... however I don't beleive its right to get loaded when riding. You can't say 3 beer is OK, or 4 beer should be the limit, because different people can drink different amounts. I mean, some days I can drink an eight pack of beer, and I mean CANADIAN beer, and barely feel a buz, and other days I'm buzzing after 2. It's up to each of us as adults to know when enough is enough. I'm not trying to say "drinking & driving is wrong, but I have an excuse". as some of you like to try to make it sound. What I'm saying is I probably shouldn't have been riding at all that night, but due to my particular circumstances, I didn't feel there was much danger at the time, and I'm just going to leave it at that.
Now, about the fenders... I'm going to do whatever I can to avoid dealing with Yamaha over this.... actually I REFUSE to deal with those blood suckers. I'd rather drive a broken bike. I'm gonna check out those aftermarket places some of you mentioned too. I was also told by someone else that plastic welding can be done so that it's hardly noticable, but i'd have to have some of the same coloured filler plastic to weld with, and I wouldn't have a clue where to find that.

I think the key word is MODERATION. We sometimes drink a few beers when riding but we don't litter or ride crazy. ATV's will kill you, staight up. I've had freak accidents on them, i.e. throttle stuck, etc., when totally sober. We tend to ride more conservative if we're drinking because they are so dangerous.

I think we've all learned a lesson here. If you want to get some info about replacing fenders... then ask for info on replacing fenders and leave the "I drank 16 beers" story out. That way people won't be able judge you on your brief moment of stupidity. :-)
(Please do not litter. Thank You.)
