Default quad for dirtbike?

HiFlyin-

You're 14 and weigh 250 lbs? Would I put my 14 year old son on a 250 or 450, maybe if he weighed 250 lbs, and was experienced. But at that age my sons will be 125's (guess it'll be 250 4 strokes now). Man, just be careful. When I was 14, things didn't hurt like they do now, so I would of been way too crazy.

Talk to selector, looks like he has a nice 03 for you to look at. And you should be able to at least get 4k out of that raptor.

Oh, you mentioned you had problems finding good dirtbike forums. Here's another one for you to check out:

Ok thanks guys. Yeah I weigh 250, but I'm 6'2 and a "healthy fat" if there is such a term. Damn slow matabolizm, I eat less than my 100 pound friends.

Selector, do you have a pic and how much will you be asking??

Actually, I signed up for the dirt rider forums last night, still trying to figure out how to use it though....

Will it be cheaper to have aftermarket suspension tuned rather than stock? Also how much would good aftermarket suspension cost? (in the $500-$600 range)

Yes, I'm very experienced, I've been riding quads since I was 5 and started riding dirtbikes at 7.

I have pics, but first get your cash together. Like I said, I'm not convinced that I want to even sell the thing, so by the time you've got the Raptor sold, I ought to have a better feeling of if I want to sell it or not.

I'd sell it for $6k. I know that's a lot of scratch, but this bike has nearly $9k into it and that does not include sales tax, dealer prep, etc. If anyone that really knows CRFs looked at this bike (assuming we deal) knowing you paid $6k would probably fall over. This bike is as good as brand new - cept for dull/scratchy plastics, but that's what happens when you ride it.

If I sold the bike, you'd also get all the spare (stock) stuff: levers, bars, wheels (w/ paddle on rear), pipe, etc. You could pretty much hammer this thing and have it rebuilt with the stock parts the next day. It wouldn't be the same bike, but you'd be able to ride. Those things alone are probably worth at least $500 and are invaluable if you do wreck.

Again, it's an if. My wife does not want me to sell it 'cause she doesn't want to hear me complain when I don't have it to ride. Sell the Raptor and let's see where things are at that time. There are other CRFs out there. I'm a member of thumpertalk (125shifter) and those guys will shoot real straight with you on any bike that may be for sale.

Hell, it's a Honda - they live forever.

$6k is out of my price range, sorry. I would have to make another $500 to be able to come out even. I'm looking more at the bikes in the $4500 area, so I'll still have money for suspension upgrades, gear, etc. Thanks for your time though..

No problem. Like I said, stick close the thumpertalk and you'll get some great info on the CRF. With the knowledge base there, you'll find everything you need to know about the bike.

BTW, what suspension would you suggest?? I ride mostly MX and some trails.

The bike I'm planning on getting has J&M already. Should I have it tuned or sell the used suspension and get something else??

MX Tech or Racetech. I believe MX Tech has some kind of discount for DRN members.
