Default quad for dirtbike?

I am selling my Raptor and was planning on getting a YFZ/TRX, but lately I have given dirtbikes a serious thought. For one thing they seem to be much cheaper than quads, and it seems like it would be more of a challenge to ride a dirtbike.

My question is, if i decide to get a dirt bike, should I stay with a 4 stroke(YZ450) or get a 250 2-stroke. Which is faster, and is the yz or cr a better bike?

I know this isnt the place to ask but not really sure where else to ask.

if u go dirtbike....u wont regret it....if u like mad speed, and i mean INSANE speed, get a 250 2-stroke....the cr and yz are both top of the line bikes, you wont be dissapointed with either of em, to choose between a cr or a yz 250, would be tough....i would slightly edge towards the yz....also between the yz450 and the yz25o(2 stroker) i would recommend test ride between the two. i prefer the instant power after 5000+rpm on a 2-stroke. i love it. currently i have a 98 RM125, currently with a bills pipe/silencer, hinson clutch, factor front forks, renthal chain wheels/handlebar, and i dont regret the switch from a quad to this, with this bike i am blazing through the trails at least 2x faster than i did with a quad. i bet you would love it.

I'm currently doing the same switch. For the same reasons, sold the Raptor for $4500, and now am getting a early 2000 125, which brand? I dunno,

dirtbikes are crazy, my lil 80 2 stroker can kick a wheelie high enough to throw me off the back end EASY

currently the top dog 125 is the yz....the 2004 cr is quite slow compared to the top 3 125's. yz125, sx125 and the rm125....a couple years ago suzuki was top. not it has changed to yz, its just an awsome...almost perfect bike. great powerband, everything is top notch on it...same with the 250....and with my pipe/silencer, my bike will beat my friends 97 cr125(fmf fatty pipe/silencer) off the line. when i shift to 2nd...he is already maxed out in 2nd. and pulling on me....but once i shift into 3rd, i pull away, all the way till top speed. thats when he passes me by mabey 1 or 2 mph, takes him a little longer to reach top speed. but when he does, sounds awsome, constant humm and hes said the same thing about my bike. we sometimes switch bikes. and its sweet getting a diff ride than the rm all the time...that cr feels diff and the power is way diff than my RM, we constantly poke fun at each other about the bikes...but both of em are top and we both agree to that. came up witht he nick name for the bikes.....the CRM....lol

if your gonna go 250 get a rm250, greet mx ergos, but if your going for enduro style, your best bet is a kdx200 2 stroker, I LOVE this bike, feels so great to ride.

My problem is that I want to be able to ride a dirtbike for at least a day at my local track, just to make sure its what i want. All my friends have quads and i havent even ridden a dirtbike for a few years and that was an 80.
