I have not been on this forum for quite awile. Ever since i sold my Craptor. And I am being nice. I have gone to dirtbikes. The YZF motor is an awesome motor on a bike. Actually too much power for anyone other than a pro. Most I know that ride the 450f put different flywheels to smooth out the power. The Honda 450 is more manageable when you grab a handfull of throttle. The YZ450f flat rips when you get a handful. This leads too arm pump. The weight difference between the quad and dirtbike should smooth out that hit of the Yamaha.
I remeber 86atc250r when i was on here last. He hates Yamaha. You will find he will say nothing but negatives about them. I wonder what he does in his garage with his Honda 400 when he is alone with it. Well I am not going there!

Wrong - I don't hate Yamaha's - in fact, I've got 2 yamaha bikes in my garage & my very first bike when I was a kid was a Yamaha. I also think the YFZ is very good - there are a couple small issues I have with it, but nothing serious at all. You'll also find that in many places on the forums I've said that both these new quads are winners.
Personally waiting for the Honda - why? Blind brand loyalty? Nope - for two reasons... First, replacement parts prices - the 400EX has spoiled me over the years, there's a huge difference between 400EX replacement parts prices and prices of other quads.
Second - it appears that much of my aftermarket investment will swing right over to the new Honda, if I bought a new Yamaha, I'd have to start over with all my aftermarket stuff --- beadlocks, race wheels, control arms, shocks, axles, etc, etc. I've got thousands invested in aftermarket stuff for the 400EX so I can race any format I like - TT, XC, MX, atv rodeo, you name it ...
Given your screen name, you may not have liked me because of my opinion of the Raptor. Back then there was a lot of smack talk about how the Raptor was going to dominate everything. I tried to explain what many of the Raptor's engineering flaws were. If someone like yourself had listened, maybe I could have saved you the trouble of having to be nice by calling yours a "Craptor".
I also have a negative opinion of Yamaha's other quad offerings like the Warrior and Banshee - not because "I hate Yamaha" but because of their chassis design & the fact that Yamaha hasn't put forth the effort over the years to fix their issues.
With the new YFZ, Yamaha has made a huge step forward with their quad offerings. It can do nothing but good things for the sport & it's great that they've finally put forth some effort in the chassis design end of things. Hopefully it won't suffer the problematic fate many other of Yamaha's first year offerings have.
A lot of people are crapping on Honda because it's new offering wasn't a "revolutionary" change like Yamaha's was --- these people seem to have forgotten that Honda didn't need to make a "revolutionary" change like Yamaha did. Honda only needed to stick a great engine in their existing chassis geometry to have a winner.
I believe they did what they needed to do. I also believe that no matter which you buy, you can't really go wrong. You'll see both taking the checkered many times in the upcoming season.... This is how it should be - hopefully with this competition and the addition of Honda's new factory rider Tim Farr we'll get back to where the ATVs get yearly updates like the bikes currently enjoy. If we're lucky other manufacturers like Kawazuki will step up to the plate as well.
