Default Raptor jetting problem

i was doing some reading about changing the pilots and i was wondering if there is any way to tell that you definitely need to change them? i have read that some think that you should never have to change your pilots and others say that you have to change them. is there any good way to tell? what will happen if you changed your pilots when you didn't need to? thanks again for the replies.
