Thats a pretty good idea. But you can't get a 508 from FST. He doesnt build anything over 446cc because it isnt cost effective. If you wanted to build something like that you would have to talk to Mickey about stroking a crankshaft to fit one of those 400cc Yamaha utility jugs and then resleeve and bore the utility jug and change the frame welds and mount yourself. He could explain it to you, he just wont build it for you.
Another thing would be the over sized valves. I think they are out of a Kawasaki 400 motorcycle if I remember right and after you do the engine work they actually flow less.
Then about your cam. No one makes a .490 lift. THe highest you can go is Alba's .450 lift and Web cam has a .430 and a .390. The .450 and the .430 are top end cams and dont work as well with the 4x4. It may have a higher top speed but its going to affect the acceleration. Mickey builds a cam thats a little over the .390 that works well with engine kit. When I get a cam, thats that one Im gonna go with. Other than that you have a really good list there. I was also thinking about a 38mm carb but dont have the extra money right now to throw away because they are expensive.
With the FST gear set up, you might opt to run the 23in tires first and see how that works. You might not need to run 25s.

Something else that helped me was to disassemble the wheel bearings axle bearings and swing arm bearings, pack them with some good waterproof grease. Yamaha doesn't put much in from the factory. Mud and water are tough on these bearings. It helped me sealing these up with good grease when it was new. Another place I've noticed mud and water causing wear is the brake and shift lever pivots. A little grease here couldn't hurt. Hope this helps.

That seems to be everyones answer to everything. Well If you paid $4700 for a new wolverine and put $2k in the engine and suspension like he said he was going to do that puts you at $6700. It will keep right up with a Raptor even modded ones and and you have 4x4 so in the winter when the snow gets deep you can pull them out. At $6700 vs. $6800 or so for the new yfz or $6400 for the Raptor, what money are you saving?? And you have 4x4.
