Default 2002 Grizzly 660 engine braking- not right

I have a 2002 grizzly 660 w/ the following mods :

k&n filter
HMF header and pipe(loud)
port & polished head
webcam racing cam

Problem is, recently my engine braking has quit working unless the engine is above "normal" idle. I don't think the mods have anything to do with it as the engine braking worked great for many months after I made the changes. If i turn the idle up the engine braking works better but not like it should and these suckers get hot enough as it is.

Any insight would be helpful.

I've never had the problem, but I'll help out by bumping this thread back to the top

All this is, is a guess, could it be the cluch or a worn out belt? Let me know what it turns out to be.

The belt was my first guess as well. I checked it but everything looked great

Try checking the engine idle speed with a tach (1450 to 1550 RPM), and you must mic the belt to ensure it is sized to spec--( 1.31 inches new and 1.18 inches minimum). Also you may need to clean and regrease the pri and sec sheaves. Post back

Good idea, i primarily checked the belt for wear on the top and botom. I will check the width and let you know.
