Well there is an easy way to test this....whoever is on the Warrior...only ride to 5th gear and see if the 300 passes you...I would but I am not in contact with my friend who was a 300ex.

You don't seem to be understanding the question. Do you know understand what gear ratios are? If the Warrior only had 5 gears and it's fifth gear would be the equivalent of the actual 6th gear, would it have enough power throughout all the gears to still accelerate faster than the 300ex?

There was an interesting shootout in 4Wheel ATV Action between a stock Raptor 350 versus a 300ex in this issue. There were mixed results but by their estimation, the 300ex was this sport class winner. I would buy a Raptor 350 over the 300ex based on a little stronger motor and nicer ergonomics for a larger rider.

Maybe you dont understand what gear ratios are. If by your question you mean would the warrior out-accelerate the 300ex if it only had 5 gears, and the fifth gear would be the equivalent of its real 6th gear, then it would be a closer race. That would mean that to maintain the same top speed of appx. 63 mph (dont b!tch about it, the number isnt important) the 5 gears would have to be taller. Taller gearing accelerates slower (to a point) so it would in fact be more of a race. But as moldycheese already pointed out, it has 6 gears. If we're going so far as to make it more fair by having the same number of gears, why dont we give it the same gear ratio as well? Now the two have exactly the same top speed, so with 5 gears and the exact same gearing specs, which one would accelerate faster? Good question, but it seems unfair to test them this way, i mean they have a lot of differences dont they? Why dont we shave some weight off the warrior too? Make it nice and equal. Now lets take into consideration the rider shifting and clutching skills, as well as rider weight. Get rid of them too, make it all remote control or something. Now we need to look at the engine size, the warrior has an extra 60-something cc's on the ex, so lets even that out too. Both are now 349cc's and have been tuned for exactly the same power.

Lets recap: The warrior is now a 5-speed with the same gearing as the ex, the same weight, same rider (or robot or rc equipment), and they both have the same displacement and have been tuned for the same power. Well, whats left now? Throw some 300ex plastics on the warrior and let 'em rip! Sound fair everybody? I have a feeling it'll be a really close race.

Anybody who cant figure out that that was sarcasm, im telling you now. They're different bikes, which means there is no such thing as a perfectly fair match. Stock for stock, the larger engine, 6-speed, higher top speed, heavier, and whatever else you wanna gripe about, warrior, is gonna win.

You bring up an interesting and important point. To all the ppl who keep posting about it being fair or not fair between the two bikes in a drag race, accel. and top speed arent everything, handling, ergonomics, torque, suspension, and a lot of other factors make a one bike better than another. Unless you plan to do nothing but drag, you need to think about these aspects as well. I suspect that the magazine shootout would have been all for the 350 rap if it was slightly better handling and had better suspension, but it isnt/doesn't, so for normal riding, I can say that the 300ex probably deserves the win. Now hopefully you understand that in a drag, which isnt everything, the warrior/ rap 350 wins, while for normal recreational riding, in most situations, the 300ex wins. Fair enough?

kx100 were all good, its cool. i wasnt pist. it just frustrates me when people have pointless posts like this to just fire people up, thats all. like someone said in the above post..i belive it was xxxsick660xxx, he said that there are too many variables to be able to determine online, its true. there are a million things that could differ. unless you have a warrior and a 300ex built at the same time, by the same mechanic at the manufacturer, and ride them the same oil, gas, elevation, the exact same mileage, break them in correctly, and so on and so on then you will never be able to get an accurate answer. i doubt it highly that a stock 300 would beat a warrior, in fact i would bet 100-1 odds that it wouldnt. i onlymnsay this because i have raced 2 different ones and whiped their faces clean with my dust and roost. but once again, not stock for stock and certainly not the same year or builder.

I just lost all respect for atv action,i actually thought they gave good facts and nothing but the facts. How could the 300ex beat the raptor 350,theres no way. That magazine is screwed up, the rap 350 can beat the 300ex in just about everything, thats crazy.

This will help settle the stock for stock debat. I normally own more than 1 quad at a time and at in 2001 i had both a warrior and a 300ex. The Warrior always would win in a race. It didnt matter if i was riding it or if one of my freinds was riding it, the warrior was always a little bit faster. If you want to talk about modding one, I eventually got rid of the 300 and i put a WB e-series and prodesign intake ( with a foam filter ) on the warrior. I had a buddy that put a K&N filter, and a Procircut T-4 pipe on his 300ex. the warrior still wins. I will give the 300ex its due, They are very good machines but they are not the fastest by any means. They do exactly what they were designed to do. Be a entry class sport bike with a good power and have a decent ride quality. The warrior was deigned for the same purpose, It was just given a faster engine.
