Angry Hampster I know the tires are smaller so I'm pretty sure the sprockets will be different and there is a different carb. I think its the same one thats in the 660r and I also heard the cams, pipe and other stuff is different. The raptor 350 will deffinately keep up with a 400ex. I have a friend with a 400ex and it has a big gun pipe, big gun cdi, I think a big gun rectifier or w/e they are called, jet kit, k&n air filter and my friends stock raptor beats it. He also has an 89 warrior that was faster than newer stock warriors when it was stock; now it has a topend rebuild and bored 40 over and its faster than the ex, so I'm 99% sure the raptor350 will stay right with a 400ex or beat it.

It will be very interesting to see the 350 beat a 400ex. You've made reference to the Raptor 350 having a different CAM and a different pipe. With this known, the Raptor 350 will probably reach max RPM a lot quicker than the Warrior. If the 300ex, a smaller engine than the Warrior, can stay ahead of the Warrior until 5th gear, then it just proves that a smaller engine can stay ahead of a larger engine. With this known, the Raptor 350 has a smaller engine than the 400ex and therefore it may be able to beat it.
The Raptor 350's tires are smaller than the Warrior's right? If this is true, then the engine can pull the Raptor 350 easier than it could pull the Warrior because of the "tire gearing". I think they would make changes to the sprockets because of this. Also, don't forget that the Raptor 350 is lighter than the Warrior, I think it's just as heavy...or just as light as the 400ex. If you pitted the Raptor 350 against the 400ex, it does stand a good chance I believe. although it only has a SOHC and the 400ex has a DOHC, the Raptor 350 has a 6-speed transmission and this could work very well in it's favor. They could have designed this machine in mind that it was going to compete with the 400ex and they'd try and make it so that 5th gear is a little quicker than 4th gear on a 400ex and then 6th gear would be quicker than the 400ex's 5th. Anyone know why all the new vehicules are adding one gear to their transmission? It's to ensure optimal performance. As one truck commercial advertised it's new 5-speed automatic pickup, it was facing off against a 4-speed automatic I believe and they were pulling the same weight. The 5-speed pulled right ahead.
It will be very interesting ot see a shootout on the 400ex vs the Raptor 350. I'll bet that they will do a Raptor 350 vs a Warrior though.
