I will be taking it apart on Saturday and will give you the details. BTW, should I still take a look at the fuel filter?? And what will I need to take off to get to the carbs (gas tank, fenders, etc)??

You'll have to take off the front fenders, and move gas tank to the side. If your Raptor is a couple years old it wouldn't hurt to change the fuel filter while you have the tank unbolted.

Ok, and some people have said it could be the reverse limiter, but I didn't think the 01 raptors had a limiter. I know I had mine up to about 30 in reverse before I flipped. If it is how will I be able to tell?

Stop wasting time. I agree with taking your carbs off and disassembling enough to spray them out with carb cleaner. Don't go crazy taking them apart to the point you can't get them back together. Sounds to me like your main jets are clogged big time. Also agree with taking the carb to engine boots off and examining really closely. Every time I've ever seen a bike sputter on the throttle but idle fine, it was either a dirty carb or a bad plug.

Try going to church Sunday and praying. Maybe you will be forgiven for your sin of riding another man's quad without his permission.

I've had my Raptor for sale since May. Nobody has made an offer yet though. Think I should put it on e-bay? I haven't had it out since about June.

Problem fixed, the same jet on both carbs were clogged.

That was a tough one! Better let the new owner know the symptoms in case it happens again. Glad you got it going but don't miss the lesson, karma is a mo'fo:-)

i am having a similar problem with my step dads 02 raptor we got it back from being serviced i took it for a ride down the beach it went fine i rode it hard and when i went to slow down i got back to idle and it would stall this happened about 10 times. i forgot about it for a while and my step dad went for a ride yesterday and it wouldn't rev above idle without missing and spluttering we took off the top of the carbs(bit hesitant bout taking it all apart coz we were thinkin bout takin it back to the dealer) sprayed some fuel in there and started it up and seemed to run fine we then connected the fuel line again and it didn't splutter or anything we put the fuel tank back on with all the fenders and stuff. we then started it up and it had a massive knock in the engine like the piston was hitting something, my step dad squeezed the hose from the radiator and it stopped we then went for a ride. It would splutter when we took off then i hit the throttle it missed a bit and then took off and went fine i got to the end of the rode and went to turn and it started again took off and it stopped i then put it into reverse and it was worse. need help!
