a friend of mine just bought a 96 banshee,the spark cuts in and out and is very weak.the guy he bought it from told him he thinks its the cdi,what do you guys think?

 

Stator, maybe. I had one go out on my OLLLDDDD 1980 Rm80 back in the day. From what I understand, the CDI only regulates the spark, the stator creates it. Maybe its bad plug wires. They could be cracked. Have your friend check that out before anything, thats most likley. Did he replace the plugs? It could be faulty plugs too. Most of the time its the small things.
