Default street bike motor in a raptor ,what will work?

Yes i know this has been discussed before but i would like to start gathering all the information i need to purchase the best motor for the raptor frame so if you have first hand knowledge on this i would like to hear about it.I have heard that yamaha r-1 motor is a good choice is this true? One problem i am having in trying to get some idea of the cost of this project is in finding a competent and experienced shop with a background in this area so any ideas there would be appreciated also.I live in oregon but i would drive quite a distance to deliver my raptor for this project so any where within 1000 miles or so would work.T his project may be something i get started soon or it may wait a while but i am serious about it so your information will not go to waste. Thanks in advance for your responses.

That will be one scary ride.... good luck! The rappy is already a wheelie machine and the R1 is what 120 hp give or take???! LOL
Have fun and be careful man.

I was checking one out a few weeks ago wondering if it would fit and the EFI would be cool.

your better off with the r 1. those duke motors do not like long wheelies .. and there a bitch to mantain ..

get either a gsxr 1000 motor or an r 1 ..

if this post was a fe wmonths back i would have an r 1 motor for you .

my buddy crashed his r ! and the only thing we could use off it was the motor . it sat in my garage for a few months .. but its gone now ..

good luck on the project ..

You know it may be easier to try somthing smaller really. How about an 03-04 GSXR 750 motor? Those engines have just as much power as the earlier R1s not to mention smaller physical size and weight.

I've seen one with my own eyes with a R1 at sand mountain. He wasn't racing but it looked plenty fast. Looked like he only had 20" paddles. It was fun to watch him play around.
